STUDENT SENATE MINUTES June 19, 2012 The Senate President called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm and

announced that the meeting may be filmed or audio taped and may be available to the public. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. ROLL CALL: Roll was called and quorum was established with 55 senators present. A motion was made to move to approve Student Senate Bill 2012-1047: Student Government Funded Academics Budget, by unanimous consent. There was no objection 2. A motion was made to move to approve Building Construction R&A recommendation John Sofarelli by unanimous consent. There was no objection. 3. A motion was made to move to approve Rawlings R&A recommendation Walter Hoffman by unanimous consent. There was no objection. 4. There were no amendments to the previous minutes for June 12th. PUBLIC DEBATE: 1. A senator apologized to all his Facebook friends and thanked them for all their donations for his trek. 2. A senator discussed how we are ignoring the important issues at hand, discussed the food selection at Chick-Fil-A, announced the request to have breakfast served, however it is too expensive to provide to students. The senator discussed his first tasting of a milk shake from Chick-Fil-A and that during the fall semester it will be offered on campus. The senator ended with a quote Eat More Chicken 3. A senator gave a speech on how senators are not doing their jobs. The senator gave an example of how things are not being done when they should be getting done. His example called out the R&E chairperson and the senators that have not been removed from spring. He stated that corruption is visible. OFFICE OF THE STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT OFFICE OF THE STUDENT BODY VICE PRESIDENT Announced that there will be an open house at the SAI Thursday June 21, 2012 at 3pm OFFICE OF THE STUDENT BODY TREASURER Announced that they are working on completing the books Discussed closed SARs and the opening for SARs being July 1st. SG Finance training will begin during Summer B PRESIDENTS REPORT There was no Senate Exec meeting Discussed speakers series begging during Summer B Discussed the changes he would like to see during Summer B Updated binders from all committees Gave specific requests for each committee Discussed his expectations for Senators in Summer B Expressed how he would like to expose all senators to different cultures A PowerPoint presentation was given by the President of Club Creole on Haiti. COMMITTEE REPORTS: R&A: Congratulated new senators Announced open seats Announced the new positions listed on SG website Asked all senators to make sure they have turned in their Affiliation forms Will not be meeting until July Reviewed Executive Nomination 2

INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION: There was a kickball game this past Sunday Senators did not show up so they were disqualified. 3

And commended a fellow senator on vocabulary. - A senator announced the freedom of speech stated that he carries the amendments with him and that all senators should invest in one. - A Senator Discussed the Rules of order - A senator requested everyone to enjoy eating at Chick-Fil-A - A Chairman requested that senators send people to apply for parliamentarian - A senator announced how appalled he is at how the senate body deals with using a motion to call previous question ROLL CALL: A motion to use voting records for final roll call passed.
