EPOXY MIO

DESCRIPTION A two-component polyamide-cured primer for steel formulated as an intermediate or finish coat containing top quality lamellar micaceous iron oxide to provide excellent corrosion protection properties. It is a high product, which can be overcoated with itself or Epoxy Enamel. PRINCIPAL CHARATERISTICS Cures to a hard film with good adhesion and abrasion resistance. Anodic to steel and prevents corrosion at damage marks. Good resistance to solvents. Can be used as a travel primer, but is not as abrasion resistant as inorganic zinc. LIMITATIONS Base must be fully stirred before adding the curing agent. Thorough stirring is necessary after the components are mixed. The induction period must be observed to avoid the risk of side reactions e.g.: with acid fumes CO2 Cure is slow at low temperatures. Pot life is short above 350C. Shield pressure pots and fluid lines from direct sun. Equipment and brushes must be cleaned immediately. At dry film thickness above 30 m splitting may occur when overcoated. Must never be topcoated with alkyds nor oleoresinous paints. Poor resistance to alkalis (pH 11 or above) and acids (pH 5 or below).

SURFACE PREPARATION Degrease and prepare as per Eurolux recommendation APPLCATION Airless Spray : Thin 10% by volume, use 0,45mm(0018) tip and 14 MPa air pressure. Skill is required to maintain a dry between 20 and 30m. : Not recommended : Ready fir use as mixed after 30 mins induction period. Suitable only for small areas. : Nor recommended due to uneven film with low DFT in the dimples, although a skilled operator can obtain a satisfactory film by going over with a brush or smooth semi-dry roller. Acceptability should be confirmed with the site engineer or client.
