Since time immemorial, the official feast day of St. Roche has never been celebrated in the parish. His memory is marked only on the day following the feast of St. Anthony of Padua, the principal patron. The parish centennial is an opportune time to recognize his unsung heavenly protection especially for the infirm members of the community. Thus, on August 12, 13 and 14, a solemn triduum of Masses was held in honor of St. Roche. Fr. John E. del Valle, associate pastor of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, San Andres, celebrated the Eucharist on the first day and delivered a homily on the topic, The Holy Spirit and the Work of Creation. Fr. Gary Q. Uchi, associate pastor of Our Lady of Salvation, Palta, Virac, came on the second day and talked on The Holy Spirit and the Act of Redemption. The third day was graced by the presence of Fr. Raymond Francis A. Aldave, associate pastor of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish, Virac and gave a homily on The Holy Spirit and the Birth of the Church. The daily topics revolved on the Holy Spirit, who descended on the day of the Pentecost, purposely to accentuate the theme of the centennial celebration: Cabugao Parish, 100 years: A New Pentecost. The opening of the centennial year was set on 15 August 2011, solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On 16 August, feast of St. Roche, a procession was held at 4:00 in the morning, followed by a solemn High Mass at 5:30, and a breakfast-fellowship at the parish formation center immediately after the Eucharistic celebration.

On 9 October 2011, the Cabugaonons woke up to an eventful day: dawn procession of Our Lady of La Naval at 4:00 a.m.; Solemn Mass in honor of the Most Holy Rosary at 6:30 a.m. and Fraternal Breakfast; Treeplanting at 9:00 a.m.; and Launching of the Block Rosary at 5:30 p.m.

At 9:00 in the morning, the whole parish set out to the vast expanse of the Bimasanca Bay, from Marinawa to San Andres to plant trees, as part of the advocacy of the Church for responsible stewardship of the environment. Barangay councils led by their respective chairmen: Marinawa chair Sergio Rodulfo Jr., Binanuahan chair Apollo Taroy, Cabugao chair Necanor Pereyra, and San Andres chair Janito Teleb, willingly joined the activity. In the afternoon, the parish priest led the praying of the Rosary and blessed images of the La Virgen for the house-to-house Block Rosary in the parish. The 9 October 2011 event was able to plant a total of 300 boton-boton trees along the Bimasanca coastline. All religious associations, ministries, youth organizations and civic groups joined the activity. Taking charge of the whole undertaking was DOST provincial director and centennial committee member Jaime Cabrera. Another tree-planting activity was done on 11 November 2011 by the Parish Youth Movement. On 29 January 2012, servant-leaders and elders of the Anawim Covenant Community of the Virac Cathedral Parish also came to join the activity. On 4 March 2012, blackberry trees were planted during the Via Crucis at Mt. Lantad.

WITH A 108-STRONG YOUTH CONTINGENT, the Parish of St. Anthony of Padua emerged and was awarded as the biggest delegation during the recently-held 1st Vicarial Youth Pilgrimage and Vigil last 31 October 1 November 2011 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish, Virac. The unprecedented event started with an Eucharistic Celebration at 5:30 p.m. at the Virac Cathedral. Virac parish associate pastor Rev. Fr. Felbert V. Reyes presided over the Holy Mass with the priests of the vicariate, including the Cabugao pastor, concelebrating. It was followed by a solemn procession of the image of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary around the main streets of the downtown before heading to Calatagan. Upon arrival at the Chapel of Our Lady of the Assumption, the image was solemnly enthroned by the Diocesan Youth Commission executive secretary Rev. Fr. Eduardo Z. Zafe. After dinner, games and socials followed. The affair culminated with anEucharistic Vigil before the dawn of the following day. The parish delegation, headed by Parish Youth Ministry vice-president Sharina T. Tito and parish youth coordinator Arman T. Taniegra, was composed of the Campus Ministry led by Mark Anthony Rubio, the Parish Choir I led by Joseph Broz Tito, the Altar Knights Ministry led by Mark Jason Techon, the St. Isidore (Binanuahan) Catholic Youth Association led by Joe French Buendia, and the Parish Youth Ministry. The D Genesis Dancers led by Mr. Boyet Arcilla rendered a highly-appreciated performance during the program. The groups enthusiastic participation in the different activities, the colorful banner, and the muchapplauded animation skills of the Campus Ministry outshone, modesty aside, all other participating delegations. For a small parish composed of only four (4) barangays, such performance was, undoubtedly, no small feat.

A COLORFUL LIVING ROSARY capped this years parish celebration of the Rosary month, held 29 October 2011 at the Cabugao Church. FROM 1 to 9 November, the Parish of St. Anthony of Padua offered a novena of Masses for the Dead at the Cabugao Catholic Cemetery. The Church grants plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions, to those who visit cemeteries on the first eight days of November. Hence, the tradition of offering the Missa pro Defunctis at the parish cemetery chapel was started this year.

AS A WAY OF REACHING OUT to Cabugaonons living in Manila and to share with them the joy and blessings of the parish centennial year, a Holy Mass was celebrated at the family resort of Mr. and Mrs. Herminio R. Enriquez at Mayuga, BF Homes, Paraaque City, 12 November 2011, at around 4 oclock in the afternoon . The celebration started with the blessing of the image of St. Anthony of Padua which will be visiting interested Cabugaonons in the Greater Manila area year round. The rite was made more solemn with the singing of the Gozos ni San Antonio. The homily of the Rev. Fr. Paul I. Isorena, parish priest, was in the form of a State of the Parish Address (SOPA) in which, after recalling the rich storied past of the parish, he reported the programs and activities already realized since his installation as pastor last July, the current state of its infrastructures (the parish church, formation center, cemetery and rectory), and the projects being planned through a pledge-support fund-sourcing scheme. A fellowship dinner/ socials followed. Utmost gratitude is due to Mr. Ramon R. Tayas, whose wisdom gave birth to the idea of holding the event and made the necessary coordination with all concerned; to Mr. & Mrs. Enriquez, who readily agreed to host the affair and shoulder its incidental expenses; to the entire family of the late Pedro Tariman, who donated the pilgrim image of San Antonio and generously supported the needs of the parish delegation; to all who shared a good part of their precious time and fortune for the gathering; to Engr. ON 15 December 2011, a very colorful one-night Christmas cheers program dubbed as Pasko sa Centenario was held at Yolanda Park. It showcased the rich array of talents of Cabugaonons in practically every age-bracket. It expressed their readiness to share their joys with others, and contribute their share in building the parish in real and lasting unity.

PASKO SA CENTENARIO. The 100th Christmas celebration of Cabugao Parish was truly a fitting commemoration of the birth of the Lord. All sectors worked hand in hand with the parish religious association to make it truly memorable. The nineday Misa de Gallo, the Kagharong, the midnight Masses on the eves of Christmas and New Year left memorable images of a community united in prayer and in selfless giving of one-self with those in need. A onenight Christmas Cheers on 15 December at Yolanda Park featured the shining talents of Cabugaonon in arts and culture.

CONJUGAL LOVE AND FAMILY LIFE are at the heart of the Churchs pastoral concern. Hence, the parish has organized a Pre-Cana Seminar Team charged with the delicate task of preparing would-be couples for a worthy celebration of the Sacrament of Matrimony and in raising their respective families in a Christian way. The team is composed of Mrs. Paz R. Teves, Engr. & Mrs. Pacifico Sorreta, and Mr. & Mrs. Rogelio Rodriguez Jr. They underwent training under the Diocesan Commission on Family and Life. On 30 December 2011, during the Feast of the Holy Family, the parish held a Mass Wedding at the Cabugao Church for couples who wanted their conjugal union blessed in the holy sacrament. At 6:00 a.m. every Thursday canonical wedding may also be availed of at the parish church sans service offering.

THIS YEARS YOUTH FESTIVAL had a double significance: it was an integral part of the centennial year celebrations and a joyful commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the Parish Youth Movement (PYM). Born in 1991, during the fruitful tenure of Fr. Rene O. Tapel as Cabugao pastor, the PYM is now the longest-surviving youth ministry in the whole diocese. It takes charge of the annual youth festival which extends from December 26 to 30 every year. This years event commenced with a torch parade, opening Mass, and Youth Jam on the first day; and academic contests, sports tournament, motorcade and search for Miss PYM, parlor games and outing on the succeeding days. A colorful Pista sa Nayon and awarding ceremonies capped the event. The PYM is currently under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Allan Diaz.
