The intricate workings of a cell can be compared to a person and his character. Why? Just like a cell with the nucleus as the command center, each person has a heart that controls his whole being. The Bible says that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. In this light, the heart acts as a controller thus it can be likened to the nucleus. And as the control center of a person, the heart must contain DNA that is solely after God for it to be able to produce good proteins, which is his character. This DNA produces the following virtues in him: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. These proteins that the heart produces undergo packaging and sorting as a person goes though difficulties and challenges in life. The changes that happen within will then be visible as that persons character. In the event that DNA damage occurs, then the machinery of the cell will produce erratic substances. In the same manner, when outside influence of evil damages a person, his heart will change and will also start showing the evil erratic byproducts such as immorality, lewdness, dishonesty, hatred, jealousy, etc. In these cases, the DNA repair mechanism plays a big role for them to cope. A persons conscience then will serve this purpose. It filters and repairs the damages that happen in a persons character. His conscience will start fighting off evil and will cause the heart to stick to its original DNA. Apart from these elements, another important part of a cell is its cell membrane. For us humans, the cell membrane can pertain to our physical bodies. Our bodies permit the coming in and going out of substances such as environmental, social, economical factors that may also influence our inner machinery. Our eyes, nose, mouth, skin, etc can act as gateways on our membrane. Whatever we feed ourselves with and whatever we allow to enter our thoughts and feelings, our heart will always react to it- either in a positive or a negative way. In order for the cell to survive, it needs ample supply of ATP. Likewise, a persons character needs energy boosters for it to remain. Such boosters can definitely come in the form of studying the Word of God, fellowshipping with other believers, etc. Such activities strengthen the inner man and enable his heart to be sustained. Now, another feature of cells is its possession of a cytoskeleton. The cytoskeleton gives it a framework and a support system. In man, this one refers to the different pillars in life that really give structure to his character. These are the church, government, family, education, etc. Such pillars serve as his scaffold in life. The strength of his character will rely on the functioning of his cytoskeleton. Having said all these, still the main focus is at the nucleus and what it contains. The heart of a man needs to have a DNA that is surrendered to His Creator. And this can only happen in a life with Jesus Christ in it. Because if Jesus is the gene, then that DNA will keep on producing what is good and replicating only what is pleasing and perfect. Now, isnt God really great? He made the macro details of our lives coincide with the micro. What a wonderful God we have.
