Hygisoft is a universal disinfectant suitable for disinfection and antimicrobial protection of surfaces of a diverse nature such as concrete, wood, metal, tile, glass and textile against bacterial and fungal contamination. Mechanism of action Hygisoft is based on PHMG, a cationic polymer. This unique combination ensures an effective and long lasting disinfection wherever a micro organism-free environment is needed: plants and storages, animal farms and transport vehicles. Hygisoft forms an extremely thin, practically monomolecular layer that adheres firmly to the treated surface. Binding of the positive charged components of Hygisoft to the negatively charged surface of micro-organism results in destabilization and disintegration of cellular wall, leading to release of intracellular content and ultimately to the cell death. Long lasting effect Since the molecular layer of PHMG works on the surface as long as it is not inactivated or washed out and works also as dry, it has a long lasting disinfection effect. Extrapolation of the laboratory test results indicates that Hygisoft may retain its activity several months. Universality Hygisoft is a truly universal disinfectant that can be used for treatment of a wide variety of surfaces. Besides of that, in contrast to many other disinfectants, Hygisoft is not selective to any particular kind of micro organism. It kills all types of bacteria and fungi tested so far. It shows good effect on viruses as well. Moreover, Hygisoft is a dual purpose product that can be used effectively both to eliminate already existing microbial contaminations and to prevent such contaminations in future. Hygisoft doesnt change the physical properties and colour nor porosity of the treated surface. Micro organisms are not known to have become resistant to Hygisoft. Hygisoft is safe to use. Hygisofts pH is neutral. It is not corrosive on any surface nor builds up rests that could gather dirt. In modern effective farming, production is based on hygienic standard. There should be a firm hygienic plan eveywhere and it has to be followed 100 %. In spite of all necessary precautions, sometimes an outside factor may result problems with bacteria, virus, fungi etc. They can create great problems that can even lead to death of animals or in smaller case, reduction in production.

In todays world there are strict laws about disinfectants. There are many things that one has to take for consideration, such as working safety, environmental residues and final effect of the product. Disinfection is aimed to reduce the amount of bacteria on a surface. Due to working mechanism of certain disinfectants, bacteria and viruses can become resistant to those disinfectants. Hospital bacteria are an example of that. Bios Nordic developed a new product that meets the requirements of todays world. Hygisoft does not accumulate into body, but it is effective against bacteria, viruses, fungi and moulds. The above description of working mechanism makes it unique on its field. Because of its molecular nature Hygisoft is bound onto the surface and to the pores of the surface effectively, giving long lasting effect. Hygisoft is ideal for poultry farms, hatcheries, pig farms, dairy farms, turkey farms, fishing and fish farms, vegetable warehouses, greenhouses, transport vehicles, slaughter houses and food plants. It prevents effectively all kinds of bacteria to grow. Among others, it is effective against the most common Salmonellas, E. Coli, bird and swine flu etc. We have gained very good results in Finland in chicken houses and turkey farms as well as storages of potatoes and vegetables. Hygisoft is included on the European biocide directive with its CAS nr. 57028-96-3, Polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Clean first all the loose dirt of the surface and wash it properly. Let it dry. Hygisoft can be used with sponge, spraying, thermo fogging etc. Follow instructions on the package for each area of use. Read the Material Safety Data Sheet before use. Avoid breathing vapours and prevent contact with eyes. Use biocides always with care and read the MSDS. AREAS OF APPLICATION Hygisoft ensures an effective and long lasting protection wherever a microorganism-free environment is needed, such as farms, transport vehicles, food processing plants, vegetable stores, shops and stores, households to name a few. Hygisoft enjoys an excellent reputation among Finnish farmers as an effective mean for both prevention and elimination of microbial contamination in poultry farms, storage facilities and slaughterhouses. Hygisoft can be used either alone or in package with our portfolio of cleaning agents, providing a complete hygienic solution. Hygisoft has proven itself to be particularly effective against mould. Hygisoft is extremely easy-to-use as it is water soluble and suitable for such devices as thermo fogging machines and sprayers.

HYGIENE SOLUTION FOR FARMING The Hygisoft Method combines the power of two novelties: a disinfectant, Hygisoft (Polyhexamethylene guanidium hydrochloride, PHMG) and a detergent, Hygisoft Farm Wash and serves to create a clean and healthy environment at different stages of farming. Hygisoft works even at low concentrations against bacteria, bacterial spores, viruses and fungi. It is odourless and colourless; its pH is neutral. Its ability to provide a long-term biocide protection distinguishes Hygisoft from many other disinfectants available on the market. Disinfecting water distribution systems with Hygisoft helps to solve corrosion problems, which very often occur when using other commercially available disinfectants. Hygisoft Farm Wash represents a completely new type of detergents based on tensides. It has been developed specifically for poultry farms and is very efficient in removing organic dirt from the premises. Farm Wash can be applied by using high pressure washers or any other conventional method. Farm Wash is safe for the user and also environmentally friendly. It is easily biodegradable at low temperatures, +3 5 C. Hygisoft Carrier, the third component of the Hygisoft Method, serves to facilitate distribution of Hygisoft when using fogging equipment. Hygisoft Carrier enhances the droplets to be carried in air for a longer period of time, thus improving the effect on walls, ceilings and other constructions. 1. HATCHERIES 1.1 Hatching eggs Currently used technologies require treatment of hatching eggs with formalin or potassium permanganate. Direct spraying or fogging of trays with eggs with 0,05 % Hygisoft provides two advantages compared with old technology: a. Allows to cut down usage of hazardous chemicals, such as formalin and potassium permanganate b. Long-term effect provides better protection of eggs against re-contamination for the whole period of incubation (2-3 weeks). 1.2. Incubators and other equipments, walls and floors Wash machinery and equipment after each use with Farm Cleaner. Thereafter spray or fog on dry surfaces with 0,5 % Hygisoft. The same procedure should be applied for sanitizing hatcher rooms. After washing with Farm Cleaner, fog 0,5 % Hygisoft into the room (about 15 liters of the solution for 1000 m3). Prior to disinfection, make sure that floors and walls are dry after cleaning.

2. LAYERS ROOMS Egg laying chickens are kept either in cages or on the floor. 2.1. Cages Wash cages with Farm Cleaner every 16-18 weeks (3 times per year). After proper cleaning, fog 10 liters of 0,5 % solution of Hygisoft for each 1000 m3. 2.2. Floors After removing dry organic material from the floor, wash the floor with Farm Cleaner. Then fog 15 liters of 0,5% Hygisoft for each 1000 m3. 3. BROILER HOUSES Normally broilers are kept in 5 weeks cycles. Clean and disinfect the premises between each cycle. The procedure is similar to that described in 2.2. Please note that disinfection should be carried out after new layer of sawdust has been strewed on floor. 3. WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS Disinfection of water distribution systems should be done between the broiler cycles. Run water containing 0,05 % of Hygisoft through the water system overnight. If you want to disinfect the water continuously, add 3 ppm Hygisoft to water. Also feed stores and feeding equipment should be disinfected with 0,5 % dilution. 4. DAIRY CATTLE Hygisoft can be used for disinfecting udders before milking in 0,25 % solution. General disinfection in the premises and equipments should be done with 0,5 % dilution on clean, dry surfaces by spraying, fogging or wiping. Also feed stores and feeding equipments should be disinfected with 0,5 % dilution. 5. BEEF CATTLE As a universal disinfectant in the premises use 0,5 % dilution on clean, dry surfaces by spraying, fogging or wiping. Also feed stores and feeding equipment should be disinfected with 0,5 % dilution. 6. PIG HOUSES Use Hygisoft as universal disinfectant for pig houses with 0,5 % dilution on clean, dry surfaces by spraying, fogging or wiping.

7. FISHERIES AND FISH INDUSTRY 7.1 Fishing boats and handling For making ice, add 10 ppm Hygisoft to keep the ice non contaminating and clean. For hand disinfection, use 0,3 % solution of Hygisoft Hand disinfectant. For disinfection of the equipment and stores on board, use 0,5 % solution by spraying, wiping or fogging on clean, dry surfaces. 7.2 Fish factories For general disinfection use 0,5% dilution by fogging, spraying or wiping on clean, dry surfaces daily on all premises and equipment. Hand disinfection shoud be carried out continously with 0,3 % hand disinfectant. For ice making, add 10 ppm Hygisoft to keep the ice non contaminating and clean. For rinsing the fish, use 20 ppm of Hygisoft mixed with water. Keep the premises clean and take care of your personal hygiene when handling fish and sea food. 8. POTATO AND VEGETABLE FARMING, STORING AND PROCESSING Vegetable storages and handling are important application areas for Hygisoft. The whole storage facility including storage boxes should be treated with Hygisoft before new harvest is loaded, as it may result a drastical reduction in losses of potatoes and vegetables. Same behaviour is observed in carrots and other kind of vegetables. Treatment of tools and machinery used in storing, packing, conveying and processing provide safe storage of the vegetables. Hygisoft may be used efficiently in the prevention of microbiological contamination and as well as a decontaminating agent, when objects and surfaces to be treated are already contaminated. In warehouses the best way to use Hygisoft is fogging. Use 0,5 % dilution. 9. TRANSPORT VEHICLES All transport vehicles carrying food must be kept clean and hygienic. Clean vehicles properly with water and detergent. Then disinfect surfaces with 0,5 % dilution by spraying or fogging on clean, dry surfaces. Take care of the carrying boxes and other equipment that might get in touch with food by cleaning and disinfecting them regularly. RECOMMENDED EqUIPMENT We recommend using a fogger like Pulsfog or similar or an electrical fogger. For treatment of hatcheries, eggs and various equipment we recommend electrical fogger cold fogging unit. For treatment of layers and broiler rooms we recommend thermal foggers. When fogging any liquid, wear breathing mask to avoid breathing micro size droplets. Always use biocides with care and read the MSDS.
