PROJECT REPORT GUIDELINES

TITLE 1. Title should reflect the contents of the report example comparative study on the recruitment process in EASAB INDIA Ltd does not contain any comparison with other companies. 2. If necessary at the time of preparing the report the students can revisit the title and modify based on the contents. 3. It is preferable to split the title into two lines- subject in one line and company in the second line. Example A study on Recruitment process at ESAB Ltd. 4. Use at instead of in while mentioning the company (see the example above) 5. Specialisation need not be mentioned as the degree certificates of the Universities do not mention any specialization. Profiles: 1. It should follow the order- industry, company and product profile. 2. When the project is done at a services organization such as India Info line, the company profile should referred to the client organization such as Tata steel, Sail etc instead of sponsoring organization. 3. Product profile should mention the nature of products, manufacturing process, management, organizational structure and however variables such as quantities need not be mentioned. Similarly personal profiles of the management need not be included.

OBJECTIVES 1. Primary objective should be related to the title of the project. 2. Secondary objectives should clearly define and quantifiable through questionnaire. 3. Each secondary objective should be backed by a question(s) 4. There should preferably minimum of three secondary objectives and at the subtitle should be secondary objectives. NEED / SCOPE 1. They should be clearly written and differences between the need and scope should be understood and cannot overlap LIMITATIONS 1. It should reflect sample size, nature of sampling, time, resource constraints, organizational constraints, personal bias of the samplers etc., RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
1. In almost all the cases only convenient sampling is used and it should

be specifically mentioned. Some of the reports mention random sampling by mistake instead of convenient sampling. 2. Aspects of research methodology employed should be highlighted and detail. Theory inputs irrelevant to the study to be reduced. REVIEW OF LITERATURE 1. When a reference is made to a author or a book the details should be provided within bracket as indicated in the bibliography. 2. When quotation is made a reference to be made to the author or book. DATA ANALYSIS 1. Percentages can be rounded up or down and need not to be taken to the decimal points. 2. The title for each data need not include Table showing

3. For the title of each data preferably use questions than repeating the phrase of few words. The requirements of application of statistical tools should be taken into account while framing questions. 6.In case of age or experience it should be completed years ( of age or experience). 7. Boundaries for ranges should not overlap example: 10% to 15% 15% to 20%- These should be 16% to 20%. 8. It is preferable to avoid open ended questions such as any comments, or suggestions which may lead a sampler to show his dissatisfaction at the company. 9. In the case of qualification it should be very explicit and should include all the qualifications prescribed by the company. 10. Under qualification avoid the use of the word professional as it may lead to different interpretation. 11. Null /Alternate hypothesis should be clearly defined and use the same sentence format. 12. Ensure hypothesis used are logical and relevant to the data. FINDINGS 1. Include only those interpretations under findings which are significant or would form the basis for suggestions.

2. There should be one finding for each of the data. SUGGESTIONS 1. Suggestion should come out of the findings. 2. Try to avoid general findings based on the perceptions or which are likely to hurt the feelings of the management of the organization. 3. Suggestions not based on the findings should be listed under general findings. General suggestions could be from the replies received against the open ended questions. CONCLUSION 1. Conclusion should mention the benefits likely to accrue to the organization recommendations are implemented and if necessary suggesting any future course of action. BIBILOGRAPHY 1. when a reference is made to the book sequence should be author of the book, title of the book, publisher and year of publication. 2. When a article is referred it should be in the order be author of the article, title of the journal, issue, volume No/date of issue. 3. When a website is referred, www.-----------------with the necessarily link. General: 1. Under bonafide certificate use the college seal instead of separate seals for principal/HOD. 2. Whenever a reference is made to the company either under the company profile or anywhere else do ensure it does not hurt the company. 3. Include a page on abbreviations listing out all the abbreviations used in the report at the beginning of the report. 4. When an abbreviation is used in the text of the report use the full expansion, with the abbreviation in the bracket when a term appears for the first time. 5. Be clear about the words being used in the report and avoid or find out the meaning of the word before its usage. Example. attrition 6. Use simple sentences as far as possible. NOTE: THE SEQUENCE OF THE CONTENTS SHOULD BE AS PER THE PROJECT HANDBOOK GUIDELINES.
