    Right- I know this needed done on my car as within the last couple of months I've started to smell burning oil (I think) inside my car. Whilstcleaningoutmytank,IthoughtI'dcreatea'HowTo'foryouguys.Pleasebearin mindIamnotmechanicallymindedintheslightest! Here'stheoilcatchtankI'mgoingtoremove:

    Firstoff,Iremovedthe2torx(E10)bolts:

    ThenIremovedthishoseclip.Thesewererathertrickytoworkout,butonceyou'vedone onethey'requiteeasy:

    ThenIremovedthisoneinthesamefashionasabove:

    Afterremovingtheseclips,thehosesstillremainsolidlyattached,soIfreedthemupwitha littleGT85(LubeWD40willdo).Ileftthemforacoupleofminutes,thengotasmallflat headscrewdriverontothemoneatatime,leveringthemoff:

    Afterremovingthis,Isawjusthowmuchshitwasactuallyinthethrottlebodyitself:

    SoIsetaboutcleaningit.Tocleantheinlet/outlet?thatgoestotheoilcatch,Isetaboutit withtheGT85spray,thenfoldedupasectionojayclothandpokeditthrough.Ipulledthe jayclothback&forthquiteafewtimes,andrepeatedwithabout3or4cleanbits,untilthe pipelookedclean:

    Eventually,thethrottlebodylookslikethis(Minusahand):

    Ithenturnedtotheothersideoftheoilcatchtanktocompleteremovalofit. Firstoff,Ihadtoremovethehoseclip,andatthisend,it'salittlemoredifficultsincethe plenumsandoilcapgetintheway. Tomakethiseasier,Iremovedtheoilcap,BEINGVERYCAREFULNOTTOGETANYTHING INSIDE. Afterremovingthehoseclip,Iputtheoilcapbackon,thensprayedsomeGT85onthehose edgetofreeitupalittle,andthenprieditoffusingmylittlemagicscrewdriver:

    OnceIgotitoff....

    ....itwastimetoseejusthowmuchshitwascloggingitup:

    Isetaboutitwithnumerouslittletoolstotryandscrapeoutsomeofthecrap.Here'sa tasterofwhat'scomeoutofthere:

    IthensprayedsomeGT85inside,leftitforabout10/15minstogiveittimetopenetratethe crap,thenIheldahighpoweredgardenhoseontheendofitandletthewaterspray throughforagood23minutes. Irepeatedthisontheoppositesideofthecatchtank,untilIcouldseeclearwaterrunning out. IdonethesamethingwiththehosethatIhadremoved. Ileftthisinmygaragewiththeheatersonforacoupleofhours,tomakesureitwastotally drybeforerefitting. Refittingisreverseofremoval.

    Note:Afterdoingtheabove,therestillremainsthecloggeduphoseontherighthandside oftheoilcatchtank.I'vebeentoldthisisn'timportanttoclean,butIfyouwishtocleanit out,youneedtoremovetheplenums. Note2:Thehoseclipsyouremovewillprobablyneedreplacingwithnewones.Ifoundit easiertoreplacethemwithjubileeclips.Ifyourcarefulhowever,theycanbereused.
