they would govern if elected.
Center for Arizona Policy (CAP) is your resource to help you cut through the
political spin and get the facts about the candidates, directly from them. Since
1998, weve sent surveys to those running for o ce and have reported their
unedited responses back to you with no punditry or political speech.

What is the August Primary Election about?
The Primary Election decides which candidates
will represent each political party in the November
General Election. In September, watch for an
updated edition of this Voter Guide for the General
Election that will include information on key
ballot measures, school board races, and judicial
candidates.
Is the 2012 Voter Guide Democrat or
Republican?
Neither. It is factual, impartial, and nonpartisan.
Every candidate in the covered races was treated
equally and had the same opportunity to respond
to the questions.

We dont know. All candidates were provided
the same opportunity to respond to the survey
questions. For candidates who declined to respond,

1. Repealing the Patient Protection and Aordable Care Act.
2. Prohibiting abortion except where it is necessary to prevent the death of the mother.
3. Amending the United States Constitution to dene marriage as only the union of one man and one woman.
4. Permitting healthcare professionals to opt out of performing procedures that violate their moral or religious
beliefs.
5. Amending the U.S. Constitution to require Congress to balance the federal budget every year.
6. Passing state laws that authorize local law enforcement o cials to enforce federal immigration laws.
7. Providing federal funding to Planned Parenthood and other organizations that provide abortions.
8. Adding sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression to the protected classes of race, religion,
age, sex, and ancestry in antidiscrimination law.

sentencing guidelines for possessors of child pornography.
4. Prohibiting abortion except when it is necessary to prevent the
death of the mother.
5. Allowing slot machines and table games o Indian reservations.

employee and health benets as married couples.
7. Allowing the Legislature to cut voter-approved spending in
times of nancial crisis.
