Most of the time the router has some setting inside that we do not want to. This causing problem when other devices connected to router having problem. In order to make it work all devices to DLink wireless router for user, first must reset factory default setting. Below is how to reset default setting.

Step 1 Locate the reset pinhole on the back/side of the unit.

Step 2 With the unit powered on, press and hold the Reset button. Step 3 Hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds and observe the light in front of the unit will be off except power light. Step 4 Release the Reset button. Step 5 The device/router is now at factory defaults.

Step 6 Open your Internet Explorer and log into your router by typing in its IP address (in most cases the default IP is http://192.168.0.1). Specify username and password for your router, default is admin and password is blank (nothing). **Note that you do not have to be on the Internet in order to access this address because you are just connecting to your router's address. **

Step 7 After logging into the router select SETUP tab on top. Click Manual Internet Connection Setup.

Set Internet Connection to PPPoE (Username/Password) option. Please key in username and password provided from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). And click on Clone MAC Address button. This will place the MAC address of your computer into the router. Step 8 Click on SAVE SETTINGS and then click on REBOOT on left menu to apply the new configuration.

II. How to make it my wireless secure, below this how to configure setup Step 1 Open your Internet Explorer/IE. Step 2 Log into your router (DIR-300) by typing in its IP address (in most cases the default IP is http://192.168.0.1) and enter.

** Note: That you do not have to be on the Internet in order to access this address because you are just connecting to your router's address. **

You will see the DLink Configuration (DIR-300) page at this part. And please specify username and password for your router, default is admin and password is blank (nothing). Step 3 Click SETUP then click WIRELESS SETUP on left menu then click on Manual Wireless

Connection Setup

Step 4 Uncheck/disable the WI-FI PROCTECTED SETUP on enable. On the Wireless Network Settings, there is option called Wireless Network name. Please take note this Wireless Network Name, it also common people called as SSID. By default is 'dlink', if you already configured with different name please just put '2' behind it (e.g. dlink2).
** NOTE: Please do not use 'space' for network name, make it one word. **

Step 5a (If you didn't want to use wireless security, please ignore this Step 5a) Click on the Security mode > choose Enable WEP Wireless Security (Basic).
For WEP Encryption you can choose 64Bit. Please key in your wireless password at WEP KEY 1 only on WEP configuration (bottom of page). If you see dots on this WEP KEY 1 just delete it and create your own password. NOTE: Please make it the password very simple but secure, some of device unable to connect using complex password (e.g. 111111111 or 0123456789 or 1234abcdef) ** For 64Bit you have to enter 10 characters from 0 ~ 9, A ~ F ** (RECOMMENDED) ** IF you choose ASCII, for 64Bit you have to enter 5 characters (A ~ Z, 0 ~ 9) **

For WPA Encryption you click on the Security mode > choose 'Enable WPA-Personal Wireless Security'. NOTE: If both your wireless access point/router and your wireless network adapters support WPA, we recommend to use this type of encryption as it is more secure compared to WEP. WPA and WPA2 (Enterprise) require RADIUS server to be installed on your network, however WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK (Personal) do not have this requirement. To enable WPA-PSK (WPA Personal) encryption you will need to enter the same passphrase for both the access point and all of the wireless adapters. Please key in your wireless password at PRE-SHARED KEY. If you see dots on this PRE-SHARED KEY just delete it and create your own password. NOTE: The passphrase should be at least 8 characters long.

Step 5b (If you want to secure wireless security, please use this Step b) On bottom of menu there is Security Mode > Disable Wireless Security (not recommended) Step 6 After setting up your WEP/WPA, click on Save Settings. Step 7 Please wait for awhile while the router is saving the settings. Step 8 Please click on REBOOT on the left menu to reboot the system to take effect. Your wireless router has been set security, please try connecting wirelessly.
