Internal Audit Manager


Internal Audit Members and Ops (new role) To provide assurance on the governance, risk management and internal control of ICAEW in accordance with the IIA International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing

Key Responsibilities
1. Contribute to the strategic development of the Internal Audit department. 2. Contribute to the development of the risk based internal audit plan. 3. Responsible for the completion of risk and compliance based internal audit reviews and ad-hoc assurance related reviews across ICAEW, identifying potential areas of control weakness and inefficiency and agreeing realistic and effective remedial action with management to improve or strengthen internal control or make efficiency savings. 4. Provide peer review of the Head of Internal audit to ensure quality standards are maintained. 5. Manage own technical and personal development, seeking support as necessary. 6. To actively contribute to the development of the department in line with new issues and best practice in Internal Audit. 7. Attend and present papers to the Audit Committee as requested from time to time. 8. Support the work of the ICAEWs external auditors, by close liaison on the results of Internal Audits, and supporting their annual audits. 9. To progressively deputise for the Head of Internal Audit.

Other Responsibilities
1. Ensure audits follow the process and meet the standards set out in the Internal Audit Manual. 2. Maintain key records for own audits to support the reporting of KPIs. 3. Distribute own audit reports to all agreed recipients. 4. Responsible for monitoring completion of actions agreed as a result of all internal audits. Includes gathering information from action owners and updating internal audit records. 5. Prepare reports on overdue actions for the Board and Audit Committee 6. Provide advice and support on interpretation of policies such as the tender policy, etc. 7. Assist the Head of Internal Audit in responding to incidents including whistleblowing, PCI DSS breaches and other similar investigations. 8. Maintain the log of PCI DSS breaches and participate in the PCI DSS working group that maintains compliance with the standard.

Competencies
Role Specific Technical Competency ICAEW ACA qualified with experience of internal audit and risk management. Good understanding of auditing practices and standards.

Good communication and persuasion skills. Ability to learn quickly, demonstrate understanding and apply knowledge and skills to new situations. Strong knowledge of accounting processes and financial controls. Good Excel and Word skills. Act Responsibly Level 2/3
