The 90-minute ceremony featured stirring speeches and songs by members of both families and community and religious leaders. Mayor Jeffrey Lamarand praised the families for their strength and said they are an inspiration. We are here to honor more than their memory or their service we honor them as men, Lamarand said. We hope and pray that we never have to add another name to this wall. Police Chief Dale Tamsen spoke about the mixed emotions of the ceremony, including the sorrow it

ALLEN PARK A 39-year-old man who was a house guest was arraigned Monday in 24th District Court in the shooting and dismemberment deaths of two residents. Roger Bowling was charged with two counts each of first-degree murder, mutilation of a body and felony use of a firearm. He also faces a charge of tampering with evidence. The murder charges each carry a life sentence upon conviction. The charges of dismemberment and evidence tampering carry sentences of up to 10 years each and a $25,000 fine. The felony firearm charges each carry a mandatory two-year sentence. Its not often that torsos are found floating in Wayne County, Wayne County Prosecutor Kim Worthy said in a statement. This couple lost their lives in the worst possible way. The torsos of Chris Hall, 42, and Danielle Greenway, 32, were found just after 7 a.m. July 16 in the Detroit River near Alter Road and Riverside Drive off Detroits east side. A few hours later, a fisherman found their arms, heads and feet along with a circular saw and a suitcase a few hundred yards from where the torsos

DETROIT The Lincoln Park woman who made national headlines for continuing to accept food stamp benefits after winning $1 million on a Michigan Lottery game show was sentenced yesterday in Wayne County Circuit Court to nine months of probation. Amanda Clayton, 25, won the money on the show Make me Rich! last year and took home more than $700,000 after taxes. She was charged in April with two felony counts of welfare fraud failure to inform for not alerting the

state Department of Human Services about her winnings and income from her job. Clayton accepted $5,475 in food and medical benefits from August 2011 through March this year that Attorney General Bill Schuettes office said she was not eligible for. She pleaded no contest in June and one charge was dropped. Today, she paid the money back in full. She also has to pay court costs and fines. Her attorney, John Dakmak, said
