Intra-Cell handover:

Intra-cell handovers are between channels within the same cell. The target cell is the same as the source cell. Intra-cell handovers deal with channels within the same cell; that is, the Target Cell = Source Cell. Parameter: intra_cell_handover_allowed

Ladder Diagram:

Intra-Cell Handover Tracking Counters: Several statistics that apply to intra-cell handovers are "rolled up" into a single counter array statistic, INTRA_CELL_HO. Each statistic is held in a bin of the array as shown below: The intracell handover bin pegged depends on the speech rate involved and may include the change of speech rate, which subsequently pegs (FR_FR, HR_HR, HR_FR or FR_HR).

Inter-Band Handovers:
Handovers can occur in single BCCH dual band cells as follows: Intra-cell, intra-band. Intra-cell, inter-band. Inter-cell, intra-band. Inter-cell, inter-band. Parameters: The following additional parameters are required when dual band is used with single BCCH: bts_txpwr_max_inner - Maximum transmit power for the inner zone (BTS). coincident_mb - Determines an ability of BTS to execute the coincident multiband handovers. dual_band_offset - Estimates the effects of the power level differences that occur when comparing signal strengths from different zones. Set within the range -63 to 63. For GSM 900 outer band, a negative value should be used. frequency_type - Frequency type (PGSM, EGSM or DCS 1800) of a cell and its BCCH carrier. ho_pwr_level_inner - Handover power level for inner zone, when a cell is configured as a dual band cell. mb_preference - Status of the multiband inter-cell handover feature. pbgt_mode - Selects the preferred method of compensating for a mismatch in frequency types between the serving channel and the neighboring cell BCCH, when calculating power budget. intra_cell handover_allowed - Enables/disables intra-cell handovers. interband_ho_allowed - Interband handover frequency types in a multiband cell. band_preference_mode This parameter specifies the method the system uses to program a
Multiband MS with the preferred frequency band for a given cell in the BSS.

Inter-BSS Handovers:
Inter-BSS handovers are between the channels belong to the cells of different BSCs. The target cell is in the different BSC then the source cell. Inter BSS handovers will always be controlled by the MSC. Parameter: inter_cell_handover_allowed Ladder Diagram:

Outgoing External Handover Tracking Counters: Several statistics associated with outgoing external handovers are "rolled up" into a single counter array statistic, OUT_INTER_BSS_HO. Each is held in a bin of the array as shown below, and can only be displayed as part of the array, not individually. All are pegged at the source SSM.

Incoming External Handover Tracking Counters: Several statistics associated with incoming external handovers are "rolled up" into a single counter array, IN_INTER_BSS_HO. Each is held in a bin of the array as shown below, and can only be displayed as part of the array, not individually. All are pegged at the target SSM.

Intra-BSS handover:
Intra-BSS handovers are between the channels belong to the cells under the same BSC. The target cell is in the same BSC as the source cell. Parameter: inter_cell_handover_allowed Ladder Diagram:

Outgoing Intra-BSS Handover Tracking Counters: Several statistics that apply to outgoing intra BSS handovers are "rolled up" into a single counter array statistic, OUT_INTRA_BSS_HO. Each is held in a bin of the array as shown below and can only be displayed as part of the array, not individually. All are pegged at the SSM.
