Saturday, August 18, 2012
Broken Arrow Golf Club 16325 W. Broken Arrow Dr. Lockport, IL

The Upper Room is a hotline in support of our priests,

deacons, and religious brothers who need a lift when life gets troublesome. It is a national service, receiving calls from across the U.S., as well as from Australia, Germany, and Canada. You will be trained to listen, give appropriate referrals, and help them through the crises in their life, especially when some feel life is not worth living. Now is the time to show our love and respect to these good men and help them in their time of need. Please register to help. Compassionate volunteers are always needed to keep the Line open and operative. A new training class for volunteers is beginning September 11th until November 1st and will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:30 9:30 pm. Please support by registering with The Upper Room Crisis Hotline, P.O. Box 3572, Joliet, IL 60434, or call to register at: 1-815-341-9124.

SACRAMENTS
Dear Parishioners, Today we begin to take a break from the Gospel of Mark for the next five weeks. Why? Because Mark is the shortest Gospel and there is not enough to fill 34 Sundays of Ordinary Time. So the Church inserts the 6th Chapter of Johns Gospel. This is the Bread of Life chapter. In the Gospel of John, there is no narrative of the institution of the Eucharist, as in Matthew, Mark, Luke and Paul. That is because by the time Johns Gospel was finished, the Christian community had been doing what Jesus said to do in His memory for 70 years almost! Because of other circumstances, John has Jesus give us the importance of feeding on Him, of being united with Him, of growing into Him, of believing in Him. And this Bread He gives is for anyone who will accept Him. What a wonderful gift we have from Jesus! Do we treasure it? How do we show it as the central treasure of our faith and of our life? These next five weeks give us pause to praise and thank God for thinking enough of us to want to keep us fed and strong for whatever may be asked of us. Peace and good things, Fr. Mark
Reconciliation: Sat. 3:30-4:15 pm or Appt. Baptism Please call 815 838-2592 ext.123 to register and complete a Baptismal Request form. Marriage Please call 815 838-2592 ext.123 to Register, at least six months in advance.
