Overview: Welcome to Introduction to Broadcast Video Production, or BVP 1. This class is designed to be an introduction to the television and film industries with a little bit of awesome thrown in for free. The state intended this program to be a fairly comprehensive look at the production industry, so if you are looking to hone your acting skills, please consider taking one of North Cobbs fine drama classes. We will learn about the history of mass media, how to compose shots, non-linear editing, and lots of technical jargon necessary to master of this relevant art form. Why Broadcast Video? Dont make the mistake of treating this as just another elective. What elective will give you a new look at something you interact with on a daily basis? If you have used YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, or any online social tool, you have probably seen video. This class will help you to understand what you are seeing and maybe, just maybe, it will make you a contributor to this necessary social interaction. You watch videos everyday this class will help you make them better. Georgia Performance Standards: I intend to use my blog as a way of extending our classroom. I will be putting lots of relevant information up in cyberspace. You will be able to find the standards at the class blog. Procedures & Discipline: The class procedures can also be found on the class blog, but are listed below for clarification. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Be respectful. Act professionally. Dispose of all food, candy, gum, and drinks before entering the classroom. NO exceptions. Follow all rules as outlined in the NCHS Student Handbook. Ask three then me.

Electronics Policy: Cell phones use is not permitted in the classroom, unless given permission by the teacher. Music players (not cell phones) can be used only with teacher approval. Students are to remove headphones or ear buds before entering the classroom. Inappropriate use of technology (anything not expressly directed by the teacher) can result in an immediate referral and revocation of technology privileges. Attendance: Any student who is not in class for any reason (excused, unexcused, I.S.S., O.S.S, etc.) is responsible for making up the work missed. All assignments missed will initially be entered as a 0 and you will have one week from the first day back to make up the assignments. As many of our assignments will be group work, which cannot be completed individually, some missed assignments may be substituted with an alternative assignment at the teachers discretion. Grading: Each assignment given this semester will be divided into one of the following categories: Individual Assignments 25% Group Assignments 25% Test & Quizzes 20% Employability 15% Final Project & Exam 15%

Advancement: In order to advance from Level 1 to subsequent courses in the Broadcast Video Production pathway, students must demonstrate an excellent attitude and at least a grade of 75 in BVP 1.
