Education in India is a burden or opportunity?

My OpinionEducation means to draw out virtue. Education in India is not for bread or money oriented but it should be life-oriented. Education is not the amount of information that it is put into your brain and remains there undigested all your life. We must have lifebuilding ,man-making, character, assimilating fine ideas and making them your life and character goes a proverb. In India, education is needed which is rich in its value for growth of individual and even country as a whole. Just mugging up books will not help developing country like India to grow. Our education system concentrates on theoreotical part more, in this nuclear age focusing more on practical part. For example: we study rivers or lands in Antarctica or of some other country. Whats the use of it. Many people even dont remember what they studied in the previous year when they get into a new year of their class. Moreover, education needs to rebuild a person. It should have the power to make a person to handle difficult situations in life which are really needed to be seen or focused on. Why a educated person or a student commits suicide when he/she gets less marks or is failed. Whats the purpose of education if it doesnt bring meaning to life and meaning to an individuals life. Education should make a person to human being who will become sensible, matured, caring towards others and so on.. People are not even bothered to stay united. Theres a topic UNITY IN DIVERSITY in our books but whats the use of that education when people dont follow and behave lke animals when some issue breaks up in our country. So YOU THINK HOW IMPORTANT IT HAS BECOME TO CHANGE THE EDUCATION SYSTEM. Todays education system in INDIA is just like a bird without a wing or a man without a brain. India is a developing country thats why it is necessary to keep pace with the new world. The education system just provides the qualifications but not the practical experiences. The students just mug up the answers and pour it down on the answer sheets. They dont have to think. In other words, the education system is just feeding with golden spoons and thus in their later lives, they cannot produce what is needed by our country. The interactions between the teacher and the students are also less. The students are not allowed to choose their favorite subjects to study. Every subject is made necessary for the students till 9th class. The education system needs to undergo drastic changes to produce ASSETS for the country. Even when students go to school they are not interested and enthusiastic that they will learn some new things which would help them in their future life. I hope this article of mine will make some changes somewhere and there the students will get to learn new things.

Criticism is good or Bad? Criticism - by hearing this word, people can only think of negative criticisms. For exampleif a topic or situation is given, some stay silent some are outspoken and will give their opinions or criticisms. Even the people who are outspoken will never think for a while that are they giving the criticism diplomatically as criticisms can create arguments or fights. Even some are so indifferent about giving opinions that they just say I like it even they dont know the situations or havent seen anything and just say i like it despite they dont like it. Just to make others happy or making their impression good they say this statement to avoid arguments and fights. To avoid all these type of situations and even if criticisms should be given then it should be constructive criticism that means to give a criticism which will lead to improvement, constant growth i.e.to give a value addition feedback. This type of constructive criticism will help not to give personal opinion but to give a feedback or suggestion which would lead to constructive growth and lead to excellence. Everyone should avoid negative criticisms as it will just say about personal opinions, needs, desires and it will just lead to arguments, fights and no one will lead to progress. Telling a constructive criticism that means telling a criticism which is positive in attitude and not addressed to a single person but all will be benefited by it. For an examplePoor way of criticizing 1) That presentation sucks, no one will get attracted to it. 2)The font should be different, i hate it. 3)I just hate the background of the project Proper way of constructive criticism1) The presentation can be made in a more professional way to make it more presentable. 2) This font will not be readable and potential customers and suppliers will not be attracted. 3)The text color and background is not matching we can try something else. So thus, it can be seen that criticism is good or bad its you who have to decide as it totally depends on how a person takes a criticism.some take as a building tower or some may take as storm which will not give anything and will destroy everything. All d best

Corruption is the main outcome of democracy in India.(IIML)

Favour

The fact that the system provides equality to everyon e ,from whatsoever background and competen cy makes it easier to play around looph oles in the Indian Statute Democracy not play a direct role to prmote the corruption but it give power to the people who could be non capabl e and have there own aims and shelfishness. Democracy not play a direct role to prmote the corruption but it give power to the people who could be non capabl e and have there own aims and shelfishness. In damocratic system a person is chosen by other people. This procedure could be faulty because human being can be motivated trough the means of greed,or fear.

Against

The risk of Democracy is a systemic risk ; corruption is a personal equation and holds good or bad depending on an individual 's and organization's personal value systems. The two should therefore not be construed/ read as a cause- effect relationship. Democracy give ch oice to peopl e to select the leaders on the basis of there capabilty and goodn ess.If peopl e choose the wrong leaders then that is not the probl em with democracy that is the problem with people.

Conclusion

The democracy dont support the curruption at all.But the peopl e them selves are greedy and selfish who are motivatd for corruption.

Democracy has hampered Indias progress.

Favour

Democracy definitely hampred the progress because the peopl e who have ch osen by the indian peopl e are not educated enough and capable enough to run the government properly. Democracy putting forward lot of restrictions on business to run it as profitabl e enterpise rther then it is becoming more like running for social causes.

In some sense yes. You know, becaus of the way the system is built, lot of regulations and formalities come into picture. The bureaucracy leads to delays. Yes,as all can see from the TV news and read the papers, everything is being moulded according to the wishes of the so called protectors of the democracy. Why separate scales are being used for same kind of work/service.

Against

Democracy is the only reason of India's progress. there is no greater system for a country than a vibrant democracy . there may be probl em, but then what system does not have the probl em. there will always be probl em in any system, but we have to overcome that and keep trying to do so. no system can ever be foolproof because no two men always can think alike. just look to Pakistan for a reference. or if you have China in mind, there bubble will burst one day like USSR did. At the time of Independence, the average income of Pakistanis was higher than that of Indians. Today after almost 60 years of democracy in India (bloody and viol ent democracy at time I will admit) and 60 years of dictatorships, military rule and religious control in Pakistan, the average income of Indians is about 300% higher than Pakistan and India is now in the process of becoming a genuine world "superpower."

Conclusion

There might be some problem with the democracy but no system is fullproof we can ectify them.

Men resent women power at work place

Favour

Mal es want to domin ate women in every part of society and work because of there traditional mal e ego. Its common doubt in society wether woman can become good mangers.

Against

Its women who avoid power and responsibility in the work area. Its woman mentallty who feels that.

MBAs should be taxed at higher rates in the country (IIMB)

Favour

Understandably so in the areas of income and wealth taxes , given their propensity to earn higher through these routes The kind of money the MBA's reciving is huge .so goverment should charge them more.

Against

Taxation is a policy and policies are decided for the masses at large. In order to avoid any discrepancy and bias rates are fixed on income and not on the basis of profession. MBAs and other such professional people are taxed "professional tax". So charging them again a higher rate is not required.

Conclusion

Taxation should be based on the income rather than profession

Criticism...is good
Favour("Criticism...is good")

The good form of criticis m is known as constructive criticism, it offers valid feedback both positive and negative. a constructive criticis m can lend much needed assistance to an individual by giving them feedback on things that can be improved and issues that can be avoided. a constructive criticis m can also help establish your credibility and expertise by ensuring that you know what youre talking about, and the peopl e who benefit from your constructive criticism will be more likely to credit you in some way or form for playing a part in their success. Constructive criticism can also keep feelings from being hurt by focusing on things that can be improved while avoiding personal attacks or insults.

Against("Criticism...is bad")

Criticism can demotivate the peron from moving forward Few people use the criticism to humilate the peopl e and influence there image in bad way. Some times a criticis m can lower the confiden ce of a person so the criticiser should be fair Delibrate criticis m is very popular in modern society to achieve the selfish motives.

Conclusion

every form of criticis m constructive or destructive affects a person one way or anoth er, it will either motivate him to try harder or deflate his enthusiasm, so it depends upon the person to whom that criticism is directed how he takes it. but it calls for introspection on his part to do that with justice. if you have someone who's trying to take you away from your path to success and intentionally trying to just ruin your chan ces for success you can label it constructive and if someone is criticizing you for your betterment and asking you to quit your bad habits them you can label it oth erwise. Lord Gautam Buddha was in deep meditation. At that time, a person came near him and starts abusing him. He starts criticizing and abusing Buddha badly. But he was surprised to see that there was not even an iota of change in Buddha's expressions. He was as calm and smiling as before. That person gave up and started apologizing for his mistake. He then asked Buddha, "Lord, how is it that you were not offended by my abuses and criticism?" On this, Buddha said, "Dear, I never accepted what you said. So that way your abuses and bad criticism was back to you. Then why should I feel offended?" So true, isn't it? Anyway, we're nowhere close to Lord Buddha. But we can definitel y follow what he said. Often we get offended by oth ers' bad remarks and destructive criticism and feel bad for no reason. If we don't accept their words, see how insulted the other one will feel!

Managerial skills learnt from classroom can never match those learnt from experience.
Favour

In class rooms a student only can read books and read case studies which is not the experien ce of him so it not imprints in his mind and forget it soon. It is a fact that text books can cover only few situations where as real life is combin ation of many oth er difficult situations Reading books is just giving students glimpse how they should react in perticul ar situation but when that perticular situation comes in real life it depends on his personality that how he reacts. In real life a situation and its memory is combination of reaction, result and feelings like sad, happyn ess ,winning loss which become part of human mind forever which not happens in classroom

Against

Books cover all the basic situation to describe all the compl ex situations so basicly a manager face one of the situation allmost all the time Institutes providing the same experien ce to students by using techniqu es of drama and role play in cl assroom which is a great way of learning real lif probl ems in real time scenarios

Conclusion

Real time experien ce is always more important then the classroom studies. In classroom studies one can learn more using modern techniques of learning.

Advertising is all glitter and little truth.

Favour

The stars prmoting the product most of the time dont take its responsibility moreover they not even use the produ ct. Advertisers have to depict what the customers like, enjoy keeping in mind the clients requirements. As the produ cts increase and so the ads, glitter is a way to ensure brand recall, a very important factor for the advertising firms. Most of the time compnies over showcase there produ ct qualities which is not fair. There are lot of exampl es like a person eat a chewgum and become so cool that girls start following him or take example of a famous perfume where if guys use that perfume girls start running behind them all these are totally fake. Advertising is a business and not charity. Companies hire advertisers for their promoting their products and it is not vice versa.

Against

Advertising firms carry responsibility of providing customers with unbiased information about products. In order to have a healthy bottom line the ad firms cannot shun their responsibility towards the society. Ad firms have to develop the ethical con tent into their processes to ensure fair deals. There are advertisement avail able which show the notice that it is medically proven or they are having proof.

Conclusion

Advertiements are somewh at made to attract the costomers and some time they might only glitter but some times they are also true

Is corrupt but efficient politicians better than honest and in-efficient politicians.
Favour

Corrupt but efficien t politician can sure make a diffrence in indian governemen t.Currently most of our politicians are corrupt and inefficiant. The politicians are not able to take care of citizen's benifits because they are ineffician ts.If we have the efficient politicians who are bit corrupt but able to serve the nations that would change the scenario. The in efficiancy of politicians came out in recent mumbai terror attacks. If we have slightly efficiant peopl e we would never such kind of attacks.

Against

A corrupt poltician can not fullfill his duties even he is efficien t because he will use his efficien cy in only his shelfishness Where as a honest politician might not be able to perform but atleast he can improve the current dirty politics and social corruption problem by his honesty. How one can be inefficiant if he is performing his duties with honesty. Corruption is detrioting the indian society we can not allow a corrupt person as our leader.

Conclusion

A person who has ch osen by the thouands and lakhs of peopl e must be effician t but he should not be corrupt. Sometimes he may take some benifts out of the system but he should be honest towards the befits of the society and people who have chosen him Inefficiancy or efficiancy cant be measured But if a person is corrupt it is leagally un avoidable.s

Obama's visit to India-gain or loss.

Gain

U.S. President Barack Obama endorsed India's long-held demand for a perman ent seat on the U.N. Security Council, a reflection of the Asian country's growing global weight and its challenge to rival China.

"In the years ahead, I look forward to a reformed United Nations Security Council that includes India as a permanent member," Obama said in a speech to India's parliamen t on his first official visit to the world's largest democracy. In his three-day trip -- the longest stay in any foreign country by Obama -- the U.S. leader announced $10 billion in business deals, aiming at reassuring voters at home that countries like India offer benefits for U.S. jobs rather than causing unemployment through outsourcing. Obama has also announced the United States would relax export con trols over sensitive technol ogy, another demand of India's. He criticis ed U.S. ally Pakistan over its failure to clamp down on militants. India has long expressed scepticism at U.S. support for Pakistan, saying Islamabad is hoodwinking Washington by taking aid while also backing militants in Afghanistan. "We will continue to insist to Pakistan's leaders that terrorist safehavens within their borders are unacceptabl e and that the terrorists behind the Mumbai attacks be brought to justice," he said.

Loss

Obama not directly criticized pakistan for spreading terrorism in neighbouring countries, Which basically a loss for india. There was no announcement of India's role in Afghanistan.

We can not consider the below facts as loss to india .Below facts are actual gain to USA from this visit.

In the agenda will be lucrative defen ce ties. The United States has held more military exercises with India in the past year than any oth er country, and U.S. firms Boeing and Lockheed Martin Corp are bidding for a $11 billion deal for 126 fighter jet. Obama is walking a diplomatic tightrope in New Delhi, on the one hand trying to boost diplomatic and business ties with India while on the other ensuring relations with Pakistan and China, nations often at loggerh eads with India, stay stable. U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for Internation al Trade Francisco Sanch ez said the United States wanted greater market access to India's infrastructure and energy sectors. The truth is that having suffered at the midterm polls, President Obama's India visit aimed at repairing the damage from the biggest election reverse for the Democrats in 72 years. The motive of the Obama administration is to befriend the 65 Indian billionaires and use Indian booming econ omy, to salvage the near sick American economy. Indian Aeron autical Development Agen cy is ordering the purchase of 107 F-414 General Electric engines for the Teja fighters for the Indian Air Force at a cost of 850 million dollars. Secret negotiations for the purchase of 126 F-18 Hornet fighters with a price tag of 20 billion dollars was not disclosed. It will bring huge benefit to the US econ omy when signed.

Profit is the only business of business.

Favour

Definitely i feel Businessman getting richer now a days and they are not putting affort for the social causes. The industries only propogating the all kinds of polloutions in society.

The Social work done by the businessmen is minute as compared to the investment it is taking from the society. The fundamental behind running business is Capitalization .Capitlaization is based on only profit. Homan life is improving day by day due to business because the kind of innovations happening due to business is not possible without buiness. The kind of R&D facilities business putting for new innovations is making life better and safer. Definition of business:Businesses are predominant in capitalist economies, most being privatel y owned and formed to earn profit to increase the wealth of owners.

Against

Running a buiness a no more only profit because no organization al structure now a days allow buniess money flow to a perticular person the profit go to each and every person in organization as per there role. Each and every well build organization is giving there profits to charity. The Core capatalization is now no more there because organizations now managed by more then one person. Business providing the jobs and revenues to society for what ever cost society give to business. In econ omics, a business (also called firm or enterprise) is a legally recogn ized organizational entity designed to provide goods and/or services to consumers or corporate entities such as governmen ts, charities or other businesses.

Conclusion

Buiness is definitely a profit making enterprise but the benifits society getting out of it is also considerable. Due to buiseness only the human life is getting better and safer.

The money being put into cricket is harming the development of other sports. (SCMHRD)
Favour

Every sponser is running behind crick et Getting sponsored to oth er sports is difficult, and the players could not have the latest equipment (sport gears). Cannot not compete with oth er countries the money flowing in to crick et attracting all the young population less people intrested in making career in other sports.

Against

Departmen t of sports or the Sports ministry has a fixed budget and has to allocate the same to produ ctive use. If the demands from crick et are high the dept. has no other option but to fund them.

The number of aspiring cricketers speaks for itself how popular a game it is in the nation. A lot of funding also comes from sponsors who will fund the game that gives them maximum publicity and in India crick et is no doubt the game.

Conclusion

It seems true that mon ey in cricket is harming other games because the youths only want to play crick et due to this mon ey.

Computers result in unemployment

Favour

Computers replace a lot of jobs. A developing country like India cannot afford to have computerization at the cost of unemploymen t. Computers making lot of jobs compl ex unnecssarily which was going on easyly in past in manual mode.

Against

In a Knowledge and service econ omy computers are a necessity and a must for development. They create more jobs and types of jobs and also have multiplier effect. computer cant work in isolation most of the time still they needs human handling so basically they are facilatating human beings.

Conclusion

Computer are not increasing unemployment actully they are helping humans to making complex jobs simple.

Education and Success - Is There A Correlation?

Favour

Education is important to be successful. Knowledge, imagination, creativity is essential to be successful with hard work & luck a lit bit. Education is very important for success. Education and literacy are not correlated, but to be successful the power of mind, creativity, imagination, dedication, knowledge

whether book ish or practical is very important. Being educated doesn't mean being literate. Education here is not only should considered as a school education or academic education. Some kind of practical or industrial experience is also considered as practice of knowledge gaining.

Against

I think education need not be important to ensure success. If basic education is present with a person along with critical thinking he can buy himself success. But the society sees a person according to his qualification and not how much he is earning. Education is important, for the values it inculcates etc., but with out education too one can ensure success if he has the will and determin ation. Just being good at math and science does not mean that one is going to be successful!! An educated person can be rich but he cannot be socially successful for that he should have few oth er qualities.

Conclusion
It is the way you consider education. Basically every person needs to go through some sort of learning with out it he cannot be successful in all streams of life like social etc.

In an over-regulated society corruption is inevitable.(MICA) Favour

Forcing human mind to follow the rules which are unnecessary and biased mak e them revolutionary and they move towards revange and corruption is one of the way to take that revange form governemen t. Few people believe laws are made to be broken so this is case of the economic phenomenon of regulatory arbitrage

Against

corruption is a personal equation and holds good or bad depending on an individual 's and organization's personal value systems.Regulations , like democracy is a systemic phenomenon ;Both have nothing to do with each other.

Conclusion

Over regulating simple things of daily life can create problem in daily life but regulations are must to run the compl ex morden life .

Puyz.. Sorry for posting it so late..had my GD PI in B'lore on 25th April 11:15 batch.. Reached campus quite early..somwhr around 9:00 am as i was new to b'lore..One of the seniors at the helpdesk checked the admit card and directed me to the So-called waiting room whr one faculty member stappled all the required documents..handed over a refreshment kit(pencil, note pad, drinks, snacks). Then one of the seniors gave the overview of the entire process.. Next We were directed to the registration desk..everyone was given a Card(Very imp to be preserved till ur entire GD PI phsyco process gets over). Aft the completion of each step one of the coordinators will mark that step complete on your card. Next Directed to so-called presentation room..Presentation was Ok Sorts..few seniors, one faculty members, few alumni gave a brief presentation about the college, placements,etc..
