Introduction
Any development on a SAP BI or BW would need certain testing on Objects developed and they indeed need certain validation to ensure, the Objects or Reports created are as per the standards and requirements. Hence, to make the job easier we have created a generalised Unit test case template for Data sources, Info providers and for Reports / BI Queries, which could be commonly used in most of the SAP BI/BW Projects. This Document consists of three different templates along with executed test scripts for Data source, Info provider and Reports. Each template consists of mostly referred test cases for respective objects. These templates provides the statistics of the test cases i.e. No. of test cases that are Passed, Failed, Pending etc and also Overall Status. Templates would also helps in identifying the Percentage results of test cases that Passed, Failed and Non Executed. As the templates are more generalised, any SAP BI/BW project can directly use these templates instead of creating new ones every time.

Generalized Unit Test Case Templates

The Standardized Unit test case template is fairly straightforward and selfexplanatory. User needs to fill in details like Technical Name, Tester/Reviewer Name, and Test/Review Date etc. After inflowing all the details that are required for identifying the template, the test cases which are included in the Template must be verified. The user should manually verify test cases against the corresponding Objects/Reports in SAP BI/BW depending upon the behaviour of Object or Report, and after performing tests, PASS, FAIL or NA (Not applicable) could be chosen accordingly. After successful validation of test cases you would automatically see number of Test cases Addressed, Pending, Passed, Failed or NA. In addition to statistical results you could also see the Percentage statistics which helps in better understanding the overall status and in rating Objects in terms of standards and requirements.

Note: These templates can be used for different rounds of testing by just copying the same template to a different sheet in the same excel instead of using the new excel sheet.

Frequently asked questions

1. Can we add new Conditions? - Yes. New conditions could to be added in new rows and copy the formulae from already existing rows. 2. How can we estimate the Quality of object? - Depending upon the Number of Test cases passed, you could understand if your object is as per the Standards. 3. What is NA? - NA means Not Applicable. If any of the Test cases is not suitable for testing your object NA must be chosen. 4. If we change the existing conditions would the changes reflect? - Yes. Formulae are not related with the conditions. 5. What is first round and what signifies current status? - First round signifies first round of Testing and current status represents whether the bug or failed Test case of the first round is fixed or verified etc. 6. What is Not bug in current status? - During the First round of testing you identified a bug but on verifying, its not a bug then you need to choose Not bug.
