Needle Keeps

Small piece of red with white mini dots fabric for tiny strawberry One piece 3 1/2 long of green 1/8 wide ribbon for leaves (three loops) on strawberry One piece of 1/8 red ribbon that will be attached under bow and to top of tiny strawberry. DMC floss 3777 for words Heat n Bond fusible webbing Small amount of fiberfill. Glue gun and glue Word Piece 1. Trace words onto muslin and stitch. For the word strawberry I used one strand. For the word Jam I use 2 strands of DMC 3777. Set aside. 2. Press all the fabric pieces you are using for the mason jar. Set aside 3. Trace jar pieces A and B onto fusible webbing. Iron each paper backed fusible webbing to fabrics. Cut out A and B pieces. Take the paper off the backs. Set aside. 4. Trace the word piece (C) onto paperbacked fusible webbing. Now carefully cut out the paper on the lines of the word piece. Take this piece and position it to the backside of the stitched muslin fabric. You can use a window or light table to do this if you need. After you have positioned it right, you can cut around the outside lines of the paper backed fusible webbing. Take paper off the back. 5. Iron the word fabric piece to the A. Look at picture for placement. Appliqueing Jar pieces onto cream felt 1. Start with (A) that has (C) in ironed in place. Laying this piece on one of the pieces of cream felt. 2. Second lay the (B) ruffled lid in place on the top of bottom (A) piece. Look at picture. 3. With single DMC 3777 floss do a small blanket stitch around each piece unless you would rather use a sewing machine. Use a double piece of floss across where you will put the bow. It is the dotted line on the (B). I did a small chain stitch here. Sewing up the back piece of Needle Keep. 1. Lay the warm and natural piece on top of the back piece of cream felt. Using pinking shears, cut around pattern. 3. Sew the two pieces together 1/4 around. Look at picture. 4. Taking the front sewn needle keep back piece you will be gluing this to the back piece. Follow carefully. 2. Take back pattern piece and pin to the one warm and natural and one cream felt fabric.

5. Using glue gun, make a stream of glue along the top edge of warm and natural side of the back needle keep. Take the front needle keep with inside matching the back inside piece and press so the two pieces are glued at the top part only! Sewing tiny strawberry: 1. Cut out two (D) pieces from the red fabric for strawberry. Using a scant 1/4 seam, sew around the strawberry. Clip the bottom curves very carefully. Turn inside out. With needle and floss sew all around the top edge of strawberry. Do not pull yet. Using a small amount of fiberfill stuff the strawberry until it is a little firm. Pull floss and tie off thread. 2. Take the green ribbon, with right sides together fold and sew the two ends with a small seam. Turn inside out and make three equal loops, sewing them between each loop. After you have done that fold all the loops together and at the sewing end sew the sewn part by just catching all the loops. It will make the loops stand up better. Set aside. 3. Take red 1/8 ribbon and glue one end to the top of strawberry. 4. Glue leaves (three loops) on top of red ribbon. Sweet little strawberry dontcha think?! 5. Before gluing the red check bow in place on the ruffled piece, first lay the opposite end of red ribbon (that has the strawberry attached) and glue onto the middle of chain stitch. Look at picture. Glue bow on top to cover the end of ribbon. YOU ARE Finished!!!!!! You could make some up for your Quilt Group and give them the next time you meet! That would be so sweet of you, they would think so too! Hi, glad you got your free download. HOME! Linda Hope you enjoy using it.
