Advertisement for M.Tech/JRF/SRF/PDF under NRE Fellowship Programme Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has been implementing National Renewable Energy Fellowship Scheme since the year 1999. Under the scheme, Ministry provides fellowships to selected candidates for pursuing their M.Tech /JRF/SRF/ /PDF in the field of renewable energy in the empanelled institutions. The implementation of this scheme was so far being coordinated by IIT Delhi and this scheme for the year 2009-10 is being coordinated by the TERI University, New Delhi. Applications in prescribed proforma are invited from eligible candidates for National Renewable Energy Fellowship of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for pursuing M.Tech /JRF/SRF/ /PDF in the field of renewable energy. The fellowship amount will be governed as per UGC/CSIR guidelines as amended from time to time. The number of fellowships are as follows: i) M.Tech. 10 ii) JRF 25 iii)SRF 10 iv) PDF 5 ELIGIBILITY 1. M Tech Fellowships (10) Essential Qualifications: Students admitted into an M Tech program in any higher education institute/university/deemed university and planning to undertake project work in renewable energy are eligible to apply. Additional criteria include GATE qualification with 85 percentile and minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in B.E/ B.Tech/ M.Sc. Tenure: M.Tech fellowships are tenable from the date of sanction till the completion of the M Tech program as stipulated by the parent institute. Extension of fellowship beyond this time is not allowed. 2. JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS (25) Essential Qualifications: i) Candidates must either have 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in B.E/ B.Tech with a valid GATE score of 85 percentile or must have 60% marks in M.Sc. (preference will be given to NET qualified candidate) and

ii) Candidate should have been admitted for Ph.D. in any branch of renewable energy in any higher educational institutes/universities/deemed universities having facilities for such research work. The candidate is expected to complete the registration process with the university/deemed university for PhD degree within a period of one year from the date of award of fellowship. Document in support of admission for Ph.D. should be attached. The topic of research should pertain to basic research/applied research in any of the renewable energy areas. On Completion of two years as JRF, the stipend may be increased to Rs. 14000/- p.m for the 3rd and subsequent year, on the basis of assessment of Fellows research progress/ achievements through interview by an Expert Committee, the composition of which will be notified in due course. Age Limit: The upper age limit for JRF shall be 28 years, which is relaxed upto 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes, Women, Physically Handicapped and OBC applicants as per Govt. of India rules & regulations. Tenure: JRF will be tenable initially for a period of two years. The term is extendable for one more year on the basis of assessment of the progress made and if not awarded the SRF. JRF will be terminated from the date of PhD thesis submission or completion of tenure whichever is earlier. 3. SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS (10) Essential Qualifications: MSc, BE, BTech with minimum 60% marks and at least two years of post MSc, BE, BTech, research experience as evidence from fellowship/ associateship or traineeship and published papers in standard refereed journals OR ME, M.Tech or equivalent degree in Engineering/Technology with minimum 60% marks They should also be registered for PhD in renewable energy area. Documents in support of research experience and Ph.D. registration should be attached. Age Limit: The upper age limit for SRF shall be 32 years, which is relaxed upto 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes, Women, Physically Handicapped and OBC applicants. Tenure: SRF will be given for a period of three years. The term is extendable by one year on the basis of assessment of the progress made through publications. The combined tenure of JRF and SRF 9combined) will not exceed five years.

4. POST DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP (5) Essential Qualifications: The minimum qualification is Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in the field of Renewable Energy. Age Limit: The upper age limit for Post doctoral fellowship shall be 35 years as on the day on which the application is made. The upper age limit is relaxed up to 5 years in the case of women scientist; for physically handicapped candidates and candidates belonging to scheduled castes/tribes. Tenure: PDF will be awarded initially for one year. The fellowship can be extended for another two years maximum on year to year basis. STIPEND/ Fellowship Amount The amount of JRF/SRF fellowship will be as per CSIR/DST norms, which are as follows: JRF SRF M.Tech Rs.12000 PM+HRA (if hostel accommodation not provided) Rs.14000PM+HRA (if hostel accommodation not provided) Rs. 8000 PM

For PDF applicants the fellowship amount will be Rs 16000, Rs 17000 and Rs 18000 per month for first year, second year and third year respectively. In addition HRA at the rate admissible in the place of work will be granted if hostel accommodation is not provided. In addition, a contingency grant of Rs. 20000/- per annum will be provided to the concerned University departments/Institutions. PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING FOR THE SCHEME The candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions should send their application in prescribed proforma ( available on MNRE website www.mnre.gov.in or TERI University website www.teriuniversity.ac.in. The selections would be made with the help of an Expert Committee as per the procedure laid down by MNRE. INSTRUCTION TO THE CANDIDATES The candidates should carefully read these instructions before submitting their application: 1. The application form should be filled by the candidate legibly and carefully in his/her own handwriting with black ink pen. 2. A latest passport size photograph should be affixed on the application in the appropriate place and should be attested by the guide/HOD.

3. All the necessary documents i.e. office orders in support of the admission, the research experience mentioned in application form and proof of Ph.D. admission from the Institute/University should be certified by guide/HOD otherwise application will be rejected. 4. The candidate should enclose the attested photocopies of their certificates/ Marks sheets and list of their publications etc. Documents attested should have proper signature, name, designation and office seal. Self attestation is not acceptable. 5. Misrepresentation or hiding of facts shall lead to disqualification/ termination. 6. Decision of MNRE on all matters including selection, recommendation etc. shall be final. No correspondence in the matter will be entertained. 7. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. No interim enquiries will be attended by the MNRE or the Project Director. 8. On completion of the Ph.D. degree, a copy of the thesis or project dissertation should be submitted to MNRE through the project coordinator. 11. Due acknowledgement for the financial support from MNRE should be given in the Ph.D. Thesis and all the relevant research publications. 12. Audited statement of account and the utilization certificate will have to be submitted by NRE Fellows and their Project Coordinators. PROCEDURE FOR SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS: CANDIDATES MUST SUBMIT THEIR APPLICATIONS THROUGH THE LISTED INSTITUTES/UNIVERSITIES. NO DIRECT APPLICATION FROM THE CANDIDATES WILL BE ENTERTAINED. All interested candidates may submit their application within 21 days of publication this advertisement in Employment News. Applicants are required to submit a two page research proposal/plan in Renewable Energy area in the format as given in Annexure indicating the objectives/goals and expected outcome, and its utility to the Renewable Energy sector through the respective departments/centre of the concerned institutions admitting them.
