When it comes to environmental causes, water and energy conservation go hand in hand with each other. By conserving water, we are in fact conserving an amount of energy as well. It takes a lot of energy at the water treatment plants to take the water from the sewer and convert it into drinking water to aid our drying throats. By understanding and practicing water conservation techniques, you are effectively conserving energy usage as well. Below are 5 ways to teach everyone how to conserve water right in the comfort of your their homes. 1. Ensure that your faucets have aerators. Aerators add air to the flow of water coming from the faucet thus reducing the amount of water that drips while retaining the rinsing power of the faucet. 2. Insulate your water pipes. It is quite easy to insulate your water pipes under the sink by wrapping some fiber glass insulation around the white pipes. Be sure to wear gloves and a mask over your nose and mouth when doing this simply because the fiber glass can get in your skin and lungs which can cause you bad. 3. Check water leaks. You can determine if you have any water leaks in your home by taking note of the meter reading at a specific time of the day and observing it, say, for the next two or three hours while no one is using it. Come

back and check it afterwards and if the meter has changed then you know there is a leak somewhere. 4. Do not leave the water running while brushing your teeth. The dentist tells us to brush our teeth for at least 2 minutes. This is enough to make sure that all stains and cavities are flushed out. Typically, it does not take 2 minutes to get warm water flowing in the sink. Get the water warm and then turn it off when brushing your teeth. 5. Fill the sink with water when shaving. Instead of cleansing your razor off with running water, fill the sink with some water and shake your razor in the sink to rinse it off. This works just as well as running the razor under running water, and will save you a couple of buckets every day.

Majestic birds flying in the sky, regal predators roaming the open flames, unique insects and sea creatures which seem to come from outer space. A great majority of us only see these magnificent creatures in zoos or on Discovery and National Geographic. A greater misfortune would be if the only remaining trace of their existence on this planet would be a few photographic prints or just minutes of footage. It is alarming that despite the efforts of conservationists, as well as celebrities who have joined their cause, there are still many endangered animals. Many experts fear that aside from those animals in the endangered list many undiscovered species, particularly those in far off jungles. Aside from over hunting, among the top causes of the dwindling number of some animals are global warming and the encroachment of their natural habitats due to logging, mining, and housing development. The truth is you do not have to travel to some far-flung jungle or take up marine biology to contribute to the fight to save endangered animals from extinction. Within each one of us is the capacity to save a lion or a whale shark. The first problem we should address is our mentality. From being stewards of the environment, taking only what we need, we have become consumers without regard for other creatures we share this planet with. We should always be mindful of our consumption, from electricity to water to paper products. After all, using these resources has an impact on the survival of endangered animals. Taking steps to stop or minimize the usage of precious resources, when done by many can have a multiplier effect and save the habitat of a number of animals.

There is something majestic about seeing birds in flight. The elegance in their movement and the grandeur of their wings are both fascinating and captivating. A zoo may be a good place to see birds and other animals, but nothing beats seeing them thrive in their natural habitat. Birds are threatened in their existence because they are susceptible to weather conditions as well as from environmental hazards. The index known as the Red List shows a dramatic decline in the bird family that took a sharp turn for the worst in 2008. Many of these birds facing extinction come from the Indo-Malay region like Indonesia and Borneo. There are numbers of endangered birds listed in the IUCN Red List and to name one is the Great Green Macaw. This is also known as Buffons Macaw or the Great Military Macaw. It is a kind of the Central, and South American parrot found in Nicaragua and Honduras. The Blue-throated Macaw is an endemic macaw to a small area of Los Llanos de Moxos, Bolivia. There are approximately about 100-150 individuals remain in the wild. The main cause of their death is capture for the pet trade. Likewise, land clearance on cattle ranches cause their demise. Currently, this bird is considered in critically endangered birds, and the parrot is protected by trading prohibitions. The Orange-necked Partridge is also listed among the endangered birds. The species of bird is found in eastern Cambodia and southern Vietnam along the Cambodian-Vietnam border. The natural habitats of these birds are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist shrub land, and plantations. Habitat loss threatened the partridge.

The IUCN is continuously conserving biodiversity. The mission is to ensure that any use of biological resources is sustainable. Likewise, many nations have enacted laws that will protect and conserve needful species. Laws such as forbidding hunting, restricting land development or creating preserves are among the laws to protect endangered birds and other animals.
