1. Classify Transmission line based upon transmission length and explain the procedure for determining the Transmission efficiency and voltage regulation of a line by nominal T method. 2. Determine the critical disruptive voltage and critical visual disruptive voltage for a 3 phase 50 Hz 132 KV line situated in a temperature of 30 C and at a barometric pressure of 74 cm. The conductor diameter is 1.5cm while the equilateral spacing between the conductors is 2.75m. The surface irregularity factor is 0.9 while mv = 0.75

3. Explain reactive compensation in EHV lines. Part B ( 6 x 8 Marks ) 4. Explain the following methods of voltage control i. By tap changing Transformers. ii. By booster transformer. 5. A 50Hz, 3 Transmission line is 280 km long. It has a total series impedance of (35+j140) and a shunt admittance of 930 micro mho. It delivers 40Mw at 220KV 0.9 pf lag. Find the sending end voltage, current and p.f . Use nominal method. 6. Draw the Key diagram of 66/11 KV substation and EXPLAIN EACH EQUIPMENT in detail. 7. With neat sketches, explain any two i. Grounding Transformers ii. Arc Suppression Coil earthing iii. Resistance earthing. 8. A 220KV, 3 transmission line has impedance per phase of (40+j200) and an admittance of (0+j0.0015) mho. Determine the sending end voltage, sending end current and voltage regulation when the sending end current is 200 A at 0.95 pf lagging. Use nominal T method.
