Introduction The infrared transmitter & receiver are designed to sense the presence or absenc e of partitions such that

lighting functions change to accommodate the appropria te size space. Disassembling the infrared transmitter & receiver Squeeze the sides of the infrared transmitter or receiver cover then pull off th e cover to expose the sensor. Fixing to a wall box The Infrared Transmitter / Receiver is intended to fit into a U.S. single gang w all box with a minimum internal depth of 3.5 in. (89 mm). The wall box is to be mounted face down recessed in the ceiling (see diagram). Wall Boxes should be mounted in line with each other as well as the partition, w hen closed, separates the transmitter and receiver to ensure proper operation Wall Boxes should be no more than 8 ft. (2.4 m) apart. The UIG-2-NA is capable of suppor ting up to four pairs of IRTR devices in a partitioning application. When used i n a partitioning application, one UIG-2-NA can support up to four different zone s. Each zone can contain up to 3 partitions (4 consecutive rooms). For partition ing needs beyond four consecutive rooms, please contact the factory to discuss t he custom application. The IRTR may wire to the UIG-2-NA in different configurations dependent on the n umber of IRTR pairs being used as well as if the UIG-2-NA has other inputs besid es the IRTR pairs wired to it. The suggested wiring is depicted below. It is rec ommended, if able, to use the Digital Input wiring side first as this side provi des isolated protection from the rest of the CAN bus network. P2 Connecting up to 4 IRTR devices to the UIG The IRTR devices require an external power supply. It is recommended for best pe rformance that the external power supply be wired into the isolated power on the Digital Input side of the device with all four pairs of IRTR devices coming int o the Digital Input terminals. In this configuration, a single EXPS-15V can be u sed to power all four pairs of devices. Because the devices are powered directly by the EXPS-15V, they do not count as a device to be powered on the iLumin netw ork. Verification of alignment and functionality Note: The moveable partition must be open. Direct line of sight between the transmitter and receiver must be available. When the transmitter unit is powered, a green LED should be lit. The green LED i ndicates that the unit is powered and transmitting. Adjust both the transmitter and receiver until they are aligned. When the receiv er unit is powered, the LED functions in the following manner: Amber indicates that the unit is properly aligned and a strong signal is being received. Amber and Red Receiver is partially misaligned and may not function properly. Red Receiver is misaligned and will not function properly. No LED Receiver is completely misaligned and will not function properly. Once the units are aligned, close the partition to verify the LED on the receive r turns off. Open the partition and verify LED on the receiver turns on and is A mber.

While the partition is open, tighten loose screws and check that the LED on the receiver is still Amber. Reassembling the wallstation Install the wallplate on the transmitter and receiver 1. units. Squeeze the sides of the infrared transmitter or 2. receiver cover then place th e cover over the sensor and snap into place.
