Moreover, if only 5% of these light bulbs sold every year in
Europe were EU Eco-labelled, the energy savings would lead
to avoid the emissions of 6 209 800 t of CO
2
per year. This is
equivalent to the emissions of a car going 952 000 times
round the Earth!

use of substances
harmful to the
environment and
health
zPlastic parts heavier than 5 g shall not contain:
- flame retardant substances or preparations that are assigned any of the following risk
phrases: R45, R46, R50, R51, R52, R53, R60, R61 as defined in Council Directive
67/548/EEC and its amendments.
- a list of flame retardants containing organically bound bromine, nor chloroparaffin
flame retardants with chain length 10-13 carbon atoms and chlorine content > 50% by
weight.
zAverage Hg content:
- Single-ended light bulbs d 4 mg
- Double-ended light bulbs, normal life d 5 mg
- Double-ended light bulbs, long life d 8 mg.

The following information shall come with the product:
zAppropriate disposal conditions
zFor single-ended light bulbs:
- warning if the light bulb does not operate on dimmer switches
- indication on the relative size and shape of the light bulb compared to a conventional
incandescent lamp
zFor double-ended light bulbs, the environmental performance is improved when used with
high frequency electronic control equipment.
Your Competent Body will inform you which assessment and verification documents are required (e.g. declarations of compliance, MSDS of
ingredients), which test results must be provided and how the testing should be carried out (external test laboratories).
End of life Use of recycled
material
zLaminates and composite plastics shall not be used.
zRecycled material content of all cardboard packaging (by weight):
- 65% for single-ended light bulbs
- 80% for double-ended light bulbs.
End of life Durability zMinimum lifetime:
- Single-ended light bulbs: 10 000 hours
- Double-ended light bulbs, normal life: 12 500 hours
- Double-ended light bulbs, long life: 20 000 hours.
zLumen maintenance:
- Single-ended light bulbs with integral ballast (compact fluorescent lamps): over 70% at
10 000 hours
- Single-ended light bulbs without integral ballast (pin based lamp): over 80% at 9 000
hours
- Double-ended light bulbs, normal life: over 90% at 12 500 hours
- Double-ended light bulbs, long life: over 90% at 20 000 hours.
zFor compact fluorescent lamps, switch on/off cycles > 20 000.
zColour rendering index of the light bulb 80.
Energy efficiency as defined in Annex V of Directive 98/11/EC
