How did the Last War affect you?

My mark manifested when I was sixteen and I spent the following years in training in the Blademarks guild. At twenty I was posted with several other House Deneith officers to facilitate cooperation with our Darguun mercenary troops and our Brelish employers. My first engagement of the Last War was Battle of Cairn Hill. Over the next five years I saw fights on various fronts and with human, elf and goblin mercenaries alike. I become disillusioned with the Blademarks guild, I had difficulty of separating myself front my employers plight and remaining aloof as a mercenary should. After serving the prerequisite number of years in the Blademarks as all house members do, I join the Defenders guild in hopes of one day being a Sentinel Marshall. Did you lose family or loved ones? My father was not marked but he was never the less a valued member of House Deneith. He was one of its best mercenary recruiters and earned the house considerable coin brokering deals with mainly Darguun and Valenar mercenaries. He died commanding troops for Cyran paymasters. I had a brief love affair with a Valenar warrior, Illyania Jennaris, which was ended by her mother. I was told that Illyania died at the hand of Karrnathi forces near the infamous Fort Bones. The rumor is that those elves slain there had their bones used to rebuild the damage to the Fort something that troubles me deeply. Was your community destroyed? I was raised all over Khorvaire, so yes many of the places I called home no longer exist but my true home at Karrlakton has escaped the horrors of war and Sentinel Tower still stands. Were you involved in the fighting? I fought more battles then most, as a member of the Blademark guild it was often against people I have fought with just months before. It has made making friends outside the mercenary circles hard. Its one thing to fight your former employers; its completely different to fight your friends. Do you have a dragonmark? Yes, it manifested at sixteen and from that point on my mother, marked herself, began to take a more active role in my life. From that point on I saw less of my father but I believe they still both loved me as well as each other. The burden of bearing a mark was easier for my mother to help with me with and the labyrinth like structure of my house she was more equipped to deal with. If so how is your relationship with your house and its elders? I am on good terms with many in my house. My service has been impeccable and diligent, which has seen my star rise. My mother is proud of my success but our relationship has been strained ever since my fathers death. For political gain and advancement in our house my mother remarried. I always felt it

was too soon after my fathers death. My home life not withstanding I am generally well liked in the house and with the elders. What are your religious beliefs and how committed to that religion are you? Being born in Karrnath and raised all over Khorvaire has made faith a distant thought in my mind. I have been exposed to many faiths and have chosen the Sovereign Host as a faith the worship. I identify most with the various aspects of the religion but as with most mercenaries hardly find the time to devout. Do you have any enemies? I have several in my house as well as quite a few former mercenary comrades. If so how did you come by them? In my house my rapid rise through both my own success and my mothers timely marriage has earned me quite a few jealous rivals. Each would like to see me fail, but stop short of direct violence, or so I believe. As far as my former mercenary comrades some wish me dead, while others wish me bodily harm. It is too be expected in that line of work. Do you have any old friends? I have several mercenary friends, as well as fellow Blademarks rising through the ranks as myself. Its hard to make friends outside of my chosen profession and the chances to do so are few and far between. What are your morals and ethics and how did you come by them? The letter of the law; that is how I was raised, follow orders, do as you are commanded, listen to your elders, all of this was drilled into me at an early age. The moral qualms about fighting and killing for nothing more than the highest bidder are non-existent. I am a good soldier, and hope one day to be a good Sentinel Marshall. How did you become the adventurer you are now? I was born into a warrior family and a warrior house; there was no other choice for me. Not that there were any regrets. My family were soldiers and I was proud to continue their tradition. Its just now that I hope to expand what it means to be a warrior and fulfill my life more than it is. Do you have any long term personal goals? To become a Sentinel Marshall, and maybe one day lead my house. I always wish to find out what happened to my lost love.
