2012 ERYC Youth Awards Information & Nomination Form


Eagle River Youth Coalition will be honoring local youth at the sixth annual Valley Tastings: Food for Youth, Thursday, October 4, 6:30-9 p.m. at Edwards Interfaith Chapel. And, ERYC wants to hear from YOU who do you think deserves to be recognized? Four awards (see descriptions on page 2) will be given out to winners, who will be recognized during the October 4 event. Below is information on what the awardees will be judged on and specific criteria related to nominees, as well as short nomination forms. We want to help you share the story of local youth who have blossomed under your guidance and support. Let the community know what great work they are accomplishing and the leadership roles theyre taking to make a difference. Nominate today! Winners judged on: - Development and growth as a leader and community member (at large or within smaller community such as school). - Exhibited commitment to an organization, cause, or program, as well as collaboration with adult leaders, other youth, and other organizations. - Work shows ability to work with and for peoples of diverse backgrounds. - Demonstrated contributions to an organization, program, or cause and resulting positive changes. Criteria: - Each nominee may be nominated in one of the four award categories - Nominees must have been involved with Eagle River Youth Coalition or a partnering agency within the past two years (Aug. 2010-Aug. 2012). Awards
Summiteer: Recipients of this award have reached a pinnacle. They exemplify youth involvement in the community, taking on roles that make their name synonymous with leader. They have a track record of contributions made to the community and resulting positive changes. Belay Buddy: Recipients of this award are a sounding voice for and supporters of their peers or those younger. They are youth who work hard for their generation and those to come as leaders, volunteers, program developers, and grass root planners. Prairie Pioneer: Recipients of this award have a different perspective and a wide open mind. They are creative, innovative, risk-takers and dont easily back down from a challenge to bring about change. Messenger Express: Recipients of this award are on the move, getting their message across to elected officials, school administrators, and local boards. They bring the voice of youth to the forefront to bring about changes in policies or practices.
