INTERNET ABUSE Nowadays, a lot has been published about the ever-expanding Internet, and its many features

ranging from online blogging to surfing for information. As Malaysia steps into a more developed phase, more and more of us are starting to get the hang of using the World Wide Web, be it for fun or completion of assignments. The increase in Internet users in Malaysia has also brought along a minor yet menacing problem Internet abuse. We know that Internet is an ideal platform for us to share and gather information while communicating with others. Unfortunately, it has become a place where Internet vandalism occurs rampantly. The Internet is now not only a place for people to share their opinions and perspectives, it is also a site for the spiteful to scorn others, and the impertinent to convey horrendous messages. With viruses and spywares plaguing our computers and even more Malaysians being exposed to explicit content, perhaps we must now considered taking drastic action to monitor and filter thrash from contaminating our minds. The TV used to be called an idiot box, but would a computer with Internet access one day be coined the Sick Box ? We, the Internet users should make the World Wide Web a medium for constructive learning while retaining its accessibility to everyone. The Governments decision to block websites should be accepted, but with public consent and without destroying the freedom of speech. In conclusion, the rampant abused of the Internet should be curbed and not be allowed as an excuse to lead us into obmutescence when it comes to expressing ourselves. Thank you!
