UNIT # Unit 7: What happened? UNIT AIMS: To study simple past tense with regular and irregular verbs by developing some reading, listening, writing, vocabulary and grammatical exercises. NUMBER OF LESSONS IN THIS UNIT: 16 NUMBER OF WEEKLY LESSONS: 5 (12-16) DATE: Monday, June 4th 2012 LESSON AIMS: Lesson 12: To read the article "The daughter of a lion" and to answer some questions about it. Lesson 13: To read a short text about Christopher Reeve and to write a paragraph about a famous person. Lesson 14: To review simple past form by doing some exercises. Lesson 15: To use yes / no questions and WH questions in simple past. Lesson 16: To create some riddles in simple past. ACTIVITIES: RESOURCES: Lesson 12: English notebook 1.) Use the background information of page 98 English book and dictate students that. CD 2.) Do the correction with them and explain Cd - player new vocabulary. Teacher's activity sheets 3.) Ask students if they know anything about Grammar practice 13 the history of England. Can they name any Communication activity 13 queen or king? Reading test 4.) Students open their books on page 54 and do activity 9a. 5.) Students listen to the cd and answer activity 9b of page 55. Check answers. 6.) Students practice for the open house. Lesson 13: 1.) Use teacher's guide and dictate them the background information of page 98. 2.) Do the correction with them and explain any new vocabulary. 3.) Preteach the words "back and wheelchair". Students read the article on page 55. 4.) Student's homework is to do activity b in their notebooks. 5.) Students work on pages 113,114 and 115. 6.) Check answers. 7.) Students practice for the open house. Lesson 14: 1.) Check homework and give students an exercise in class so they work in their notebooks. (Grammar practice activity 2) and put some verbs so they can complete the past

form and the meaning, ask them to write a sentence with some verbs you select. Check answers. 2.) Give students grammar practice 13, make them work by themselves. 3.) Check answers with them. 4.) Computing activities. 5.) Students practice for the open house. Lesson 15: 1.) Give students communication activity 13 and explain that they have to ask questions using yes / no questions and a WH question. According to the picture that they have, students have to give the answers. They work in their notebooks. Do an example with them. 2.) Check answers. 3.) Students practice for the open house. Lesson 16: 1.)Ask students to form groups of 4 students. Ask students to copy the riddles that you are going to write on the board and make them answer in groups. 2.) Check answers and then, ask students to create 2 riddles of their own in simple past, it may be about two other historical figures. 3.) Check anwers with the whole class. 4.) Practice for the open house. ASSESSMENT: Lesson 12: class participation. Lesson 13: class participation. Lesson 14: grammar practice sheet. Lesson 15: communication activity. Lesson 16: class participation LEARNING OUTCOMES: Students are aware of the class, they participate developing all of the proposed activities. NOTES: This week, students have to practice the contents for the open house.
