History is a wonderful teacher, if we listen to her instructions.

The History I am speaking of is the History of the First Baptist Church of Bainbridge from 1969 through 1971. Recently I read the builders from that period. I was amazed that with less room, smaller budget, smaller staff, and less means of communication that the church averaged in the upper 500s in Sunday School during this period. The emphasis was on Sunday School and Sunday School outreach. The people came to be prepared to go out into ministry. In fact, it was this large number that a new church was planted in our area. What does that History say to me? It tells me that we are just tipping the top of the iceberg when it comes to our potential to reach this community for Christ. It tells me that we have all we need to get the job done. Maybe God is preparing us for another new church plant. Maybe He has for us far more that we can imagine. Either way, lets do all we can to reach Bainbridge for the Lord Jesus. Who know, we may surpass the 600 plus mark in Sunday School. Paul

DEACONS
Last Sundays ordination services for Bob Gardner, Nathan Harrell, Morrell Martin and Ed Pilcher were precious times in the life of First Baptist. The testimonies of these men were reflections of the work that God has performed in their lives. We also welcome the following Deacons who have agreed to serve the Lord among us: Doug Collins, Roger Edmunds, Harold Fleshman, Ron Gilliard, Troy Long, Toby Roland, Calvin Brownhill, Ray Harrell and Ed White. Pray daily for our deacons and their wives.

Art

Well, we had a great time of worship on the first Wednesday night back since school started. We were blessed with 70ish students. I am so excited about what God has planned for our student ministry for this school year as well as, His plans for our church. My prayer is that we continue to seek Him and grow in our walk while bringing more to the Kingdom. We are about to begin a new JOURNEY. I pray that this school year, in our journey, he overflows us in two ways. First, I pray He begins to change us from within. I pray that we are not the same at the end of this journey as we were at the beginning of this journey. I pray that He is changing our wants, our desires and most of all, our LOVE for Him and His Word. I pray that by learning to sit at His feet we begin to understand what He desires from us, which is our ALL. Secondly, I pray that we continue to grow in size. I am a firm believer that we have to want more to come to Him. We are called to spread the gospel and make disciples. We cant do this if we are not growing in numbers. We must continue to REACH the unreached. We must continue to FIND the lost. We must continue to DESIRE to see His creations come to Him. We must have a HEART that every student in this town sit under the teaching of Jesus. WE AS A CHURCH MUST DO WHATEVER HE ASK US TO DO, SO MORE WILL COME TO KNOW HIM.
