OPC Settings to be done 1) Establish Ethernet connectivity between systems.

2) Ping one system to another system and check the connectivity. (for eg. Ping 198.1.1.1 - IP address of other system or system name can be used) 3) Security Options: Local Policies: Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords - Disable 4) For OPC access of different systems, all systems should have same windows login username and password 5) Disable Windows firewall. (Go to control panel->Windows firewall Then turn OFF windows firewall) 6) Start WinCC and check the OPC access of other systems through OPC item manager. a) If other system is not at all accessible check firewall settings, dcom settings b) If other system is accessible and OPC server is shown as XML server check DCOM settings c) If other systems are not displayed, check network settings 7) In DCOM configuration, My Computer properties in COM Security TAB add users INTERACTIVE, EVERYONE, NETWORK, SYSTEM, Administrators in Access permission and Launch Permission through edit Default Button.All users should have all permissions. (We can go to DCOM config through, START>RUN type dcomcnfg).

IN Default Properties, enable Distributed COM and leave the Authentication and Impersonation Level as default value.

8) Go to Dcom config-> OPCServer.WinCC, properties and make Default Authentication level NONE/DEFAULT whichever is working.

then in Security TAB, add users INTERACTIVE, EVERYONE, NETWORK, SYSTEM, Administrators in Access .Launch and configuration Permission through edit Button. All users should have all permissions.

and Identity should be Interactive user.

9) After configuring DCOM we have to restart the system 10) Check the OPC communication. If system is accessible and OPC server tells class not registered it tells that WinCC is not activated in other system. If it tells access not allowed then go back to dcom settings and verify the settings done. 11) While creating OPC tags in a SCADA, it should not be in RUN mode 12) Go to OPC item manager and create tags. 13) If OPC tags are not being created, then deactivate WinCC, restart system and before activating WinCC cretae tags. 14) To get IP address: go to DOS (cmd), type ipconfig
