Oskar Schindler
This horrible event called the Holocaust all begin in January1933.It was started by this dictator named Adolf Hitler. The Holocaust was the murder of 6 million Jews by the Nazi Regime and their collaborators. The Nazis who came to power in Germany in January 1933, believed that Germans were "racially superior" and that the Jews, deemed "inferior," were an alien threat to the so-called German racial community. No one didnt try to stop it from happening because they didnt believe that Hitler would do it. When it happened everyone didnt believe it and they thought it was all rumors. But this terrible event was all true and devastating. There was this German named Oskar Schindler who was born on April 28, 1908 in Zwittau, Czechoslovakia into a catholic family. Schindler worked in a small town where he sold electric motors where he met his wife Emilie Pelzl. Schindler later became a manager in electrical engineering. He later joined the Nazi party and it was headed by Adolf Hitler. Later on Schindler started working as a spy for the Germans and got caught and was arrested by the Czechs. He was Condemned to death but he was saved by the Nazi takeover in Czechoslovakia and they saved his life. The only reason why he was saved because Hitler had said: 'whoever is with me will be able to

live in a great Germany. But whoever is against me will find instant death and Schindler was with him. In Schindlers factory he hired his first Jew to work as an accountant. By the end of his first year in business half of the people who worked there were Jews. All Jews in Krakow were forced to move to the Ghetto and most of them worked for Schindler. They lived all crowded together in filthy conditions from non-Jews. Schindler had to pay wages to the SS instead of the Jews. But the Jews still had to work which is really unfair to them. It also is not right to Schindler. Schindler felt bad for the Jews and a lot of them worked for him. So he started saving the Jews. The way he did that was by keeping false records of the Jews. Schindler succeeded by doing this to keep them safe. He listed adults as 20 year olds and he listed children as adults. The Nazis considered young children and old people useless to work. This was a good idea by Schindler to keep them safe. This tells you he cared about others not just himself. In February 1943, they cleared out the ghetto and all the healthy people were forced to live in a labor camp nearby. Any Jews who were left behind got executed and there were about 4,000 of them who got killed. Schindler saved many of Jews during this time. He told them that there was an increase of work to get done. They let them stay and they got saved from deportation. This was a very good idea of Schindler to do. Schindler was a very strong man he saved the Jews every time from the SS soldiers. He even risked hes life trying to save them. When two of his workers were

getting sent for deportation he saved them. He demanded them to let them off the train and they did. They would have been sent off to a Concentration camp. They were saved and they got to return to work they should be very grateful of that. Schindler was ordered to give the soldiers to keep his Jews if not they would have been sent off to the Concentration camp. Later on the Jews were all ordered to the camp. The offered to give him a weapon business and it succeeded. One day when a train came to town he saw how bad they looked. He felt really sorry for them and wanted to save them. He bribed to get them back with diamonds. Finally he got them all back in terrible conditions. When he got them he treated them all back to being healthy. After the war the Schindlers were broke from trying to save Jews. With the help of his Jew friends they were able to go to South America. They were able to get jobs to help themselves. Oskar soon left Argentina to collect money from German government and never returned back home to his wife. She believed he worked just to save Jews lives which he did. I believe that the holocaust was very unnecessary and for Schindler to save them was a very good thing of him. Without him some of the Jews wouldnt have lived. He actually saved the Jews lives and risked his own. He also gave up his own fortunes to save them. He could have been greedy and had them sent off to the camp but he didnt. He thought they were regular people just like him and it was unfair and he couldnt stand seeing people get destroyed so he had to do something about it .
