I study at home because my parents/relatives help me. I study because my teacher helps me understand the lesson. I study because my teacher encourages me to do better in class. I study because I want to achieve a centre goal. (i.e. being an honour student)

I study for me to have a better future. I study because my friends influence me to become more responsible. (i.e. They encourage me to study with them and not cram) I study for the simple fact that I have to.

The students were given the chance to rate the factor that motivates them most. They were given an option to rate as high as four, but majority of them rated up until three only. The highest rated factor of motivation by the second year students was their self-aspiration which means that it is the students own decision and will to excel in school and their studies, compared to the other three factors (Teacher, Interest in the subject, and class environment) The students agree that the presence of authority (teacher, parents) encourages them to do better and helps them understand the lesson by guiding them through their studies. But they strongly agree on studying for the reason that they need to achieve a goal and to excel in their studies for a better future. The students only agree for the reason regarding they study for the fact that they have to. Having the students strongly agree on the statements they have to study for their own interests mean that from their rating for self-aspiration only proves that they are motivated to do better for their own good. Although the students do not consider their teachers to be the factor that best motivates them, they still agree that their teachers play a big part on helping the students focus on their studies. Based from the data gathered, the best factor of motivation is self aspiration which had gained the highest percentage. Ranking second is the students interest in the subject. Coming third is their class environment, and last is the teachers.
