ECHOES OF VERBAL BALLADS IN MODERN SERBIAN DRAMA
HASANAGINICA BY LJUBOMIR SIMOVI
Summary
The aim of this paper is questioning of verbal ballad reflexes, as well as the presence
of non-verbal elements of traditional culture in Hasanaginica drama written by Ljubomir
Simovic. The aim of the work in the first place is to define motives, deeds and models of
transposing within Simovics drama, as well as the very methods of transposition. As the
important signal of relation towards tradition, differences in the ways of elaboration shall be
investigated by emphasizing the similar elements in the thematic basis, motives and models
of verbal creative work and also by using of the comparative method. Besides comparative
method, semiotic analysis and elements of folkloristic research shall be used. Noticeably the
writer succesfully transpose verbal balade to contemporary drama and also creates original
drama work which could be observed independently and autonomously. Beside in its very
basis, drama is also strongly relying on verbal tradition and literature in the specific motives
(the dead fiance motive, the shame motive) and mythemes (mountain, water, tower, yard and
a garden as borderland, as well as mythemes of cypress) taken over from traditional culture
and formulative patterns of verbal creative work.
