A computer is an electronic device capable of executing instructions, developed based on algorithms stored in its memory, to process data fed to it and produced the required results faster than human beings. 2. What are the Components of the Computer System? The five primary components of a computer system are: Input Input devices send data and instructions to the central processing unit. Central processing unit executes computer instructions. Memory holds data and programs temporarily.

Software can be categorized as System Software Application Software System Software: Includes the operating system and all the utilities that enable the computer to function. Application Software: Includes programs that do real work for users. 10. What is a operating system? The most important program that runs on a computer. Every general-purpose computer must have an operating system to run other programs. Operating systems perform basic tasks, such as recognizing input from the keyboard, sending output to the display screen, keeping track of files and directories on the disk, and controlling peripheral devices such as disk drives and printers. 11. What is the Firewall? A network firewall protects a computer network from unauthorized access. Network firewalls may be hardware devices, software programs, or a combination of the two.
