WARNING !
Avoid pitching your tent in dry streambeds in Southern California desert areas. A rainstorm many miles away can cause sudden flooding. 1. Select an area of flat ground approximately 10 feet in diameter. 2. Remove all twigs, rocks, broken glass and other debris from the area. 3. Consider the ability of the soil to hold stakes sand will not hold a stake unless the stake is longer than 18 and buried deeply; rocky ground is difficult to penetrate. 4. Consider spreading a waterproof tarpaulin on the ground beneath the tent if the ground is or will be wet. Your Ridgeway by Kelty is water resistant, not waterproof. 5. Orient your tent with the front (labeled Ridgeway by Kelty) facing the central area of your campground.

1. Fit the sections of the flex poles into each other to make two long flex poles (10 sections) and one short flex pole (8 sections). 2. Slide a long flex tube through the two fabric tubes on top of the tent aligned with points A and C.
3. Insert the pole pin (Figure 3) at point A into one end of the long flex pole. Bend the pole and insert the pole pin at point C into the other end of the flex pole. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, aligning and securing the second long flex pole to points B and D. 5. Tie the drawstrings at the top center of the tent, securing the long flex poles at the point where they cross.

6. Slide the short flex pole through the fabric tube along the line A D, and secure it to the second pole pin at points A and D. 7. Walk around the tent, securing the C-clips that connect from the corners of the tent fabric to the flex poles.
D. COVER THE TENT WITH THE RAIN FLY AND STAKE IT DOWN.
1. Spread the rain fly over the tent. The yellow strip fits along the top of the short flex pole, helping you orient the fly correctly. 2. Using the black plastic hooks, attach the stretch cords onto the black plastic D-rings at points A, B, C, and D. Two stretch cords each attach to points A and D, one on either side of the short flex pole. 3. Insert the plastic-coated end of a 12 fly support pole into a reinforced slot in the front of the fly. Insert the metal end into the grommet above the front door of the ten. Repeat this with the other fly support pole. The fly support poles provide an awning over the front door in case of rain. 4. Drive stakes into the 6 locations indicated by Figure 4. Drive the stakes at an angle as shown by Figure 5. 5. Use the tenters hitch knot on the fly stays (strings that hold the fly to the stakes). 6. Secure the fly to the flex poles using the Velcro strips underneath the fly. Your tent is now set up.
