BIOHACKING WORKSHOP

Hack life in a cheap, fun and easy way In Labitat the 25th and 26th of August
Have you ever seen inside a cell? Do you know what DNA looks like? Would you like to learn some biological basics and get some hands-on experience? This workshop will teach you how to tinker with biology and DNA, and to build your own lab equipment. CONTENT: Introductory lectures, hands on biological experiments and hardware hacking: Hack a webcam for microscopy and see unicellular organisms. Applied microbiology: Make your own sourdough and yoghurt. Print 3D protein models. Learn DNA extraction. Visualize DNA with UV light on a Gel. Test and learn about a homemade genegun. DIY-photospectrometry. Build lab hardware: centrifuges, fermentor, stirring plates.

COST: 150 kr. For consumables, a webcam to hack and food: dinner Saturday and brunch Sunday. Aditional donation to support Labitat, will be very welcome. WHEN & WHERE: Labitat Hackerspace & BiologiGaragen, Labitat.dk, located at H. C. rsteds Vej 5, 1879 Frederiksberg, Copenhagen Saturday 25th August , 1 pm and into the evening incl. dinner. Sunday 26th of August, 11 am with brunch, lectures & discussions

SIGN UP & INFORMATION: Sign up by email to trojok@openbioprojects.net, deadline the 20th of August. Everyone is welcome regardless of your knowledge or education , but we might have to restrict the numbers of participants due to limited space. Further information will be sent out by mail prior to the workshop. Own laptop and English-speaking skills recommended.
