Biographical Sketch of Sandra L. Hamilton


Ms. Hamiltons career in California began in 1981 as a community college instructor and administrator at Coastline Community College. Following seven years teaching in the community college system, Ms. Hamilton was appointed to the post of Executive Director of a Los Angeles Non-Profit Organization where she administered over $9 million annually in Federal job training funds for 5+ years. Her next position was Director of Employment & Training at Fullerton Community College where she developed a number of vocational training programs, generating over $1 million in revenues for the College during her first year of employment. After leaving Fullerton College in 1995, Ms. Hamilton assumed the role of Dean of Education and then School Director at a private, postsecondary and vocational school. She has continued consulting with private institutions, assisting school start-ups, expansions, grant procurement, national accreditations, and government retraining contracts. In 1998 Ms. Hamilton established EdNet Career Institute, a California Vocational School and generated $3M in revenues in her second year of business. Ms. Hamiltons accomplishments include the following: President and CEO of EdNet Career Institute, Inc. in Woodland Hills. Ms. Hamilton directs computer training programs, basic skills and education programs, programs for disadvantaged women and young adults, and security guard training. Through partnering with Microsoft, EdNet has trained and placed over 1000 graduates in computer networking careers. EdNet works with private industry in delivering corporate training customized to meet the needs of technology demands. At Fullerton College, Ms. Hamilton created a government retraining unit from inception to over $1.3 million in revenues in the first year of operation. Ms. Hamilton established the Anaheim Higher Education Center as a Novell Authorized Education Center (NAEC) which became the largest NAEC in the Western Region within 15 months. At NovaQuest InfoSystems, a Microsoft partner, Ms. Hamilton was responsible for obtaining State Department of Education approval of NovaQuest as an authorized Private Postsecondary and Vocational Educational institution, and was successful in procuring government contracts with eleven Federal funding agencies. Ms. Hamilton generated $1.5 million in Federal funding for educational services provided by NovaQuest. At ComputerFocus in Oxnard, Ms. Hamilton was successful in procuring a customized retraining contract with the Ventura Workforce Development Department, totaling over $555,000 to deliver computer training to dislocated workers. At Computer Education Institute, a vocational school, Ms. Hamilton served as project coordinator in preparing the school for application for accreditation with a national

accrediting agency, resulting in the schools approval by the Federal Department of Education to offer Pell grants and student loans to qualified applicants. In the area of school start-ups, Ms. Hamilton is responsible for preparing applications the following vocational schools, all of whom received permanent state approval as a result of Ms. Hamiltons efforts: New Horizons Computer Learning Center Access International School EECI Vocational School Latis Travel School Bosphorus Education Center Evernet Education, Inc. George Tannous and Affiliates NovaQuest InfoSystems ComputerFocus ABC Olympic Bartending School Ingram Micro DataTrain Institute, Inc.

At the state level, Ms. Hamilton was appointed to serve on the Governors Task Force to Implement the Master Plan for Adult Education in the State of California and acted as Committee Chair to the States One-Stop Educational Services. She was also active on statewide education and training committees charged with streamlining the Employment Development Departments job service structure. Ms. Hamilton served as an officer to the Employment & Training Association of California (ETAC) for three years and. Additionally, Ms. Hamilton served as Secretary to the National Employment & Training Association (NETA) from 1992-1998. Hamilton was elected the Most Outstanding Young Woman in her home state of Rhode Island for her accomplishments professionally and her civic contributions. Ms. Hamilton was honored by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal at their annual awards dinner in 2006 as one of the Most Successful Women in Business in Los Angeles. As an accomplished writer, Ms. Hamiltons works have been published in the American Vocational Association Journal and the Orange County Business Journal in addition to other national newsletters and publications regarding employment and training issues. As a presenter and speaker, Ms. Hamilton has conducted national speaking engagements at the Novell Annual National Convention in 1996 and at national conventions on employment and training themes. She was honored to be the Speaker/Presenter at ITTAs Strategies for Success in St. Louis.
