Business Plan Study for Setting up of Poultry Business Afrique Agri Industrie

Afrique Agri Industrie intends to develop a Poultry Business covering Chicken and Egg production in Ivory Coast. The company currently owns a land 70 Kms. Away from Abidjan well connected through the National Highway. The poultry site currently has 4 timber sheds that can contain 35,000 40,000 chicken (adult chicken and 1 day chicks combined) and 1 RCC Shed structure for chicken feed production. The company intends to enter into the operations of Producing 1 day chicks, Eggs and Hatchery, Chicken cleaning and processing, cold storage and chicken feed production. The site also has basic infrastructure facilities available i.e. water, road connectivity and electricity. With the land and basic infrastructure already available we intend to develop a business plan that can optimally utilize the existing capacity. The business plan is intended to cover the following broad areas and needs expert intervention. 1. What is the best suited type of chicken that can be produced in the existing capacity 2. What are the capital costs that need to be incurred in order to establish a facility that covers all the above mentioned activities i.e. ranging from production of eggs, one day chick, adult chicken processing, cold storage and how can these costs be optimized by designing the production and processing capacity 3. What quality and type of chicken feed should be used for obtaining the intended quality of chicken? Whether the chicken feed can be produced locally or does the business needs be dependent on feed import 4. What are the optimal production cycles and their time frames eg. Number of days required for a baby chick to convert to and adult chicken ready for processing, ratio of males to females, ideal number of days required for female chicken to lay eggs, proportion of chicken to be used for egg production, what size of hatchery should be proposed 5. How much manpower should be employed to operate and manage the entire facility including on-site and off-site staff. 6. What are the operational costs for all the operations eg. Chicken Feed, Chicken Vaccine, House cleaning etc. 7. What are the detailed activities to be undertaken as a part of complete operational and maintenance of various functions 8. How can we add more capacity to the sheds i.e. either by employing layered sheds for egg laying hens, layered breeding etc. 9. What type of planning approvals are required and what are the quality standards to be followed for all the operations with emphasis of critical and hygienic operations 10. How should the entire development be planned to minimize the time for achieving the commercial operation date and how can the product be marketed 11. What are the risk areas in terms of production, logistics and marketing and what are the risk mitigation strategies that need to be adopted. This is a brief list of queries and questions that the company intends to answer through a structured business plan.
