By establishing Audi India as a Division of Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai, Audi is making a clear long-term statement in the country with ambitious growths plans. Audis goal is to become the leading automobile luxury brand in the Indian market in the next few years. The Audi India strategy encompasses significant investments in branding, marketing, exclusive dealerships and after sales service for the upcoming years. At present, Audi is assembling the Audi A6 and the Audi A4 for the Indian market in Aurangabad.

Production sites worldwide

Audi manufactures Vorsprung durch Technik at eight sites with lengthy traditions of car manufacturing. Cutting-edge logistical processes, the synchronised Audi Production System and a highly qualified workforce of more than 60,000 guarantee uniform Audi standards worldwide. Every production site achieves very high standards of quality, efficiency and environmental acceptability. The worldwide network of Audi sites comprises the two German plants in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, as well as six production facilities in Hungary, China, Belgium, India, Slovakia and Spain. The same motto applies for all of them: one name, one standard, everywhere. Reconciling ecology and economy The responsible use of natural resources and continual improvements in the environmental compatibility of products and production sites are vital aspects of Audis environmental policy. Audi aims to reduce its CO2 fleet emissions by around 20 % by 2012. Location-based and company-specific CO2 emissions are to be reduced by 30 % by 2020. To conserve resources in logistics, 70 % of vehicles are

shipped to their destination by rail. In addition, all AUDI AG locations operate in accordance with the European Unions new Eco Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).

Audis Wind Tunnel Centre is one of the most modern in the world. It has three separate wind tunnels, enabling it to cover all of the test requirements for the complete Audi model range. Fuel consumption, safety, ride comfort and environmental compatibility the Audi Wind Tunnel Centre plays a key role in the new and ongoing development of cars and vehicle components. And last but not least, it is essential in heat management and air-conditioning to check initial calculations against experimental data.

The three wind tunnels and their tasks The vehicles cooling systems are a major element in the research carried out in the thermal wind tunnel. Tests performed in the new climatic wind tunnel also deal with the comfort levels inside the vehicle.

Interdisciplinary research and development The Audi Wind Tunnel Centre is located at the Groups headquarters in Ingolstadt, with the site covering a total of 10,000 square metres. The main task of the Audi Wind Tunnel Centre is to support the development and further optimisation of Audis models. Moreover, the facility offers outstanding research conditions for top athletes. Already such visitors have included international cycle racers, swimming stars and skiers.
