June 2012

Dear Friend, Greetings to you in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ from everyone at the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church in Torrington, CT. We have been having excellent services at our church recently. The Lord is good to all who call on His name! On Sunday morning we quoted the verse of Scripture that tells us the only thing that avails to God is, ...faith which worketh by love (Galatians 5:6). There are many types of love in this world: the love of a man for a woman, the love of a parent for their child, the love between brothers and sisters, and the love of friends: but the greatest love of all is the love of God towards humanity. It cannot be comprehended by humanity. It is a love so deep that God not only gave His only begotten Son for those who believe in Him, but He so loved the whole world that He gave His life on Calvary for every man, woman, boy, and girl who ever lived! The cost of salvation for every living soul was so great, yet not everyone receives this gift. Its a gift of love, mercy, and grace. The only way to receive this gift is through faith in Christ Jesus. God made it possible for us to receive eternal life and every other perfect gift through faith. There was a woman in Jesus day that had a daughter that was grievously vexed. It had been such a difficult time that she tried everything she knew to get her help, but to no avail. One day she heard about Jesus Christ and she left her home and religion and came to where Jesus was. She approached Him the way she always approached people: with a great clamor. Sometimes bad and frustrating experiences make you do that. But this was Jesus, not just any old Joe. The Bible says she cried out to Him, but He answered her not a word. Did you ever think God was ignoring you? She did. She got no answer because of how she approached Him. Was Jesus being mean? No: He was helping her get an answer that would serve her the rest of her life. He didnt answer her right away because she was actually trying to manipulate Him. If you havent received your answer from God for a while, check the way you approach Him. When she didnt get what she wanted from Jesus, she turned to His disciples and began pestering them. They in turn begged that He send her away. They werent concerned with her need; all they knew was she was making a scene and they couldnt handle her. Matthew 15:24 says, But He answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. In other words, He was telling her that His ministry was not to anyone but the Jewish people. So for her to receive anything from Him it would be because of His mercy alone. She (just as all of us

today) did not deserve any of the promises God gave to Israel. Gentiles do not deserve what God gave His chosen people. Neither do we. We read in verse 25 that she changed her tactic. She was willing to do whatever she could to get her daughter the help she needed. Then came she and worshipped Him, saying, Lord, help me. It sounds right, but as I looked into the word worshipped, I found that it literally meant, to kiss like a dog licking his masters hand. She went from demanding the Lord to answer to demeaning herself for her daughters sake. But that wont get an answer either. God isnt interested in treating you or me like a dog. He was looking to develop her faith. In verse 26 He answered her. It is not meet to take the childrens bread, and to cast it to dogs. If you want an answer from God you must not try to manipulate God nor demean yourself to be less than a dog. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters table. She began to see He wasnt rejecting her at all. He was bringing her through a process that would change her life! There are crumbs that fall from the tables of the Lord that could heal the world if we lay hold of them by faith. There is hope in this day for all who look to Christ for their help. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as though wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour (Matthew 15:28). The daughter wasnt even there. This was the mothers trial. It was the development of the mothers faith that brought the victory. I believe the hope of this younger generation today lies in the lap of the parents. If we will let the Lord deal with our approach to Him, and if we will allow Him to develop our faith, we will have what our young people need to become whole and alive for God. It is the parents that need to take the responsibility of inputting faith and character into the children. We lay up for them the direction they should take. Whether you have children of your own or not, we still can let the Lord direct our steps and pray and believe God for the youth of this day. The Lord knows they need spiritual guidance and He has given us examples in the Bible to help us direct their steps. May God bless you as you seek the Lord for the needs of this world. I invite you to our church. We are the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church, located at 624 Torringford West Street in Torrington, CT.
