Plant Description

Plant A Wrightia antidysenterica Wrightia antidysenterica, which is known in several names such as Snowflake, Milky Way, Arctic Snow, Winter Cherry Tree, Sweet Indrajao, Pudpitchaya, and Hyamaraca is a perennial ornamental shrub that is native to Sri Lanka. This plant prefers moderate watering and bright light or full sun although it can tolerate partial shades that result to less flowering. This plant grows up to 2 meters and spreads at about 1.5 meter with several short divarcate leaves that turn chocolate brown in color as the plant ages. Leaves are characteristicallydark green in color, with ovate and acuminate leaves ranging from 2 to 5 cm long and are opposite in arrangement. It is studded with pure white tubular 5-petaled or star-shaped flowers with centers that are yellow in color and corymb inflorescence.

Plant B Pachystachys lutea Pachystachys lutea exhibits a habit of a shrub. It is characterized by a fibrous type of anchorage. It grows in an upward direction and the stem is rough and stiff. Its simple, rough, entire, netted, lanceolate and petiolate leaves are observed to be growing opposite each other. Each of its leaf has an acuminate shape at the tip while truncate shape at the base. . Plant C Neomarica longifolia Neomarica longifolia, also called yellow walking iris, is an herbaceous plant. Its stem grows upward and is smooth and stiff. Its leaves are entire, palmate and sessile. The venation is parallel. The leaves are sword shaped with smooth texture. The tips are narrowly acute. Its inflorescence may either be solitary or a peduncle. The flowers are pedicillate, with inferior ovary. These flowers are also irregular and zygomorphic, with three stamens and a simple pistil.

It can either live as a vine or a shrub. When grown as a vine, it often grows upward and on a support structures since it do not twine or have tendrils or aerial roots. This plant species is often pruned and used as a shrub. Allamanda is considered to be a perennial plant and may be treated as an annual. Allamanda blooms all year in most habitats. Naturalization is usually by vegetative means since capsules and seed are rarely produced by cultivated varieties. This species also contains milky sap that is considered to be poisonous when ingested.

Older plants of this species often have multiple stems from the root crown and long stems with relatively few branches. The bark of its lower stems are seen to brown and furrowed. The stem texture appears to be smooth and stiff. Its twigs are green or yellow green. It also has a leathery, yellow-green to dark green leaves which grow in whorls of three or four. Sometimes these leaves may grow oppositely. Leaves are said to be obovate to oblong-lanceolate, rounded leaf tip, an obtuse base ends and have entire margins and short petioles. Its inflorescences are few-flowered, axillary cymes that grow near the ends of branches. The corolla of this flower exhibited a bright yellow color and white markings are found in its throat. Its calyx is gamosepalous and the flower as a whole is said to be regular, actinomorphic, pedicellate and trumpet in shape. The fruits are prickly capsules, splitting to release winged seeds. They may be cultivated in varieties which may exhibit white, cream, pink, or orange color.
