In 2008 the affiliation between sole manufacturer A.I. Schulze Chemotechnische Fabrik e.K. and the sales and logistics agency D. Bartkowiak Vertriebs- und Logistikzentrum was reformed into a new centre of operations. This merger allowed the group of companies to secure a large share of the global market and, with General Agencies for over 35 countries, it is one of the market leaders today in professional sealing technology. The group of companies supplies operators and manufacturers of steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors, pumps, housings and flanged joints, for example, with its special product, BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt , which is a single-component sealing compound and is suitable for applications in industry where high temperatures combine with pressure on smooth sealing faces (parting lines) to exert supreme demands on the quality of sealants. Our network of affiliated companies attaches a great deal of importance to innovation and quality control in a bid to offer its customers top standards of performance, reliability and efficiency. The adhesion on sealing surfaces and butt joints is so high that a one hundred percent seal is guaranteed even for pressures up to 250 bar. The pressure resistance for flanges without sealing rings is guaranteed up to 450 bar, and even up to 550 bar for screw joints.

Withstands hot steam and air, hot and cold water, light fuel oils and lubricants, as well as crude oil and natural gas at temperatures of up to 900 C.

In addition to the product information in our product documents, the 2012 product specification sheet and the safety data sheet as per 91/155/EEC, we confirm the following additions for our customers: Quality management To ensure the high quality of our products and services and to continually improve our organisation, we regularly perform in-house audits to make sure that our company meets the requirements of the DIN EN ISO 9001 quality standard to which our company is certified.

BIRKOSIT Service life When used in accordance with instructions and with regular servicing as required for steam and gas turbines, we guarantee a service life of 10 years for use on machined sealing surfaces (butt joints) with a finishing accuracy of Ra = 0.8 m to 1.2 m as well as incidences of shallow, trough-like corrosion or erosion defects at these sealing surfaces of 0.2 mm. For high-pressure turbines (H), medium-pressure turbines (M) and low-pressure turbines (L) we guarantee that the product will withstand hot steam and hot air, hot and cold water, light fuel oils and lubricants as well as crude oil and natural gas up to 900 C and withstand pressure up to 250 bar.

Application area, metal-to-metal joints BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt has been used for 50 years on Siemens turbines (product development 1952 with Siemens). Without the additional sealing of individual pressure areas using BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt the production imprecisions or the distortion under loads are no longer evened out, which means that the turbine areas in the individual pressure areas become permeable under pressure. This means the turbine loses power, and can even lead to unplanned reconditioning. BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt is formulated to be practically inert in its standard applications in steam and gas turbines. It is, therefore, resistant to exposure to hot air, steam, water, light fuel oils and lubricants. By implication, it should be resistant to crude oil and natural gas.
