Sunday: - Remember no training this Sunday 9th September due to Haddington Triathlon Sarah Anderson: - Congratulations to Sarah Anderson who has achieved a place in the East Lothian Swim Team. To be offered a place swimmers need to meet several time criteria and be committed to the programme. Well done Sarah. Bronze Medal at the Paralympics: - James Clegg who trains with the East Lothian Swim Team is racing at the Paralympics. He is in the S12 category which means he has a problem with his eyesight. James is swimming the 100m Freestyle on Tuesday 4th September so look out for him on the television. As swimmers get older the criteria get harder so it is her hard work in the pool and success at competition that has earned Jo her place. Several other swimmers in the East Lothian Swim Team have achieved places in the Silver and Gold squads so congratulations to Matt Trodden the coach for getting so many of his squad to such a high standard. Club Championships Saturday 17th November: - I have reported for the last two weeks that the Club Championships are on Saturday 18th November. They are of course on Saturday 17th November. Please make sure you have the correct date in your diary. This year for the first time the Distance and Club Championships will be at Prestonpans Pool and the format for the Club championships will be different with heats and finals on the same day. We will therefore be taking entries for the both events in advance. The coaches for each squad will be speaking to their swimmers and taking entries. The closing date for the distance championships is 28th October and the main championships 10th November. The Championships are very important club events and I hope that everyone will take part and make this new format a huge success. Presidents Gala: - Please note that the date for this gala has changed from the 30th November to the 7th December. The team list will be on the board nearer the time. Haddington Community Sports Hub: - I have attended the two most recent meetings of the Haddington Community Sports Hub. Hubs are being formed around the county based on the main towns to bring together the various sports clubs so that they can share good practice and ideas, help run local events to promote sport and to work together to develop better sporting facilities. Sport Scotland are backing this development and any funding that is available for clubs from Sport Scotland can only be accessed through these Hubs. Vivian Hastie
