Network Requirements Your DreamBox Math Classroom can be ac ve on many computers at one me the only real limit is the speed of your Internet connec on. On a dedicated T1 connec on, up to 35 students can all log in to their individual DreamBox Learning Math accounts at the same me, with no speed or performance issues. For DSL connec ons, we recommend no more than 5 students at the same me. DreamBox Learning works very well over wireless networks. Worst case usage happens when many students (e.g., one or more classrooms) start DreamBox Learning for the rs me, within a small interval (i.e., less than 5 minutes) and with a clean browser cache. In this scenario, each user will request the 2Mb download at the same me. On smaller or slower network infrastructures, this may cause DreamBox Learning to run slowly during a student's rst session. However, on a district-level infrastructure, this should be easily handled. Classroom Setup Each classroom is given a unique URL on DreamBox servers. The classroom URL is available on each teachers Dashboard page, and is labeled Your classroom internet address. It looks like this: h p://play.dreambox.com/c/my_test_school Because the URL can be inconvenient for students to type, we encourage administrators or teachers to add a link to every students desktop to this URL. This can be done for all computers at once with a systems management tool or manually. Please note that the URL is dierent for each classroom. Firewalls and Proxies Schools use rewalls and proxies for very good reasons, and DreamBox is a good ci zen with respect to them. In most cases, no congur on is needed. However, in environments that are very locked down you may need to allow certain URLs and/or domain names. All DreamBox trac is carried on either port 80 (HTTP) or port 443 (HTTPS). No inbound connec ons are required. All DreamBox trac is sent to one of four domain names: - h p://www.dreambox.com - h p://play.dreambox.com - h p://log.dreambox.com - h p://sta c.dreambox.com Email DreamBox will send both manual and automated email to teachers and administrators. Your local email ltering rules should be congured to allow email from the address @dreambox.com. Other Notes No in-house internal servers or specialized services are required on your end - everything works through a basic web browser with the most current version of Adobe Flash. . If a caching server or appliance is available, the en re domain h p://s c.dreambox.com may be cached. However your caching server or appliance must pay a en on to the Cache-Control HTTP headers. Many teachers nd that headphones are helpful, although they are not strictly necessary. We recommend the use of headphones in environments where students are si ng in close proximity to one another. A microphone is not required.
