Reflection on Debate

Throughout the debate that we had held in 15 May 2011 and 19 May 2011, I felt that the debate session was quite good because it will increase audiences knowledge as all the government and opposition members gave a lot of point included with evidences and good example. So that all the audiences would understand and got a little bit information from debate that they watched. Furthermore, from this debate session also we can decide the best choice or the best decision that we wanted to make. Moreover, debate session also taught us on how to control our emotion and how to speak well with a good pronunciation. On top of that, we can also learn how to use humor, facial expression and body gesture to attract audience and judges to listen to our presentation.

All of us had been divided into two groups and then we were needed to divide ourselves into a small part according to the person that will needed in a debate which were 6 persons became debaters, 2 person became judges, 1 chairperson and 1 master of ceremony. So that, all of us will have our own task to do. We were given a week to prepared for this debate. First group present the debate entitle while the other group present a debate entitle ,

All debate session had their own strength and weakness. In the first debate session I had found out that they had quite a lot of weakness. I think it was because they have no experience in debate and they do not have enough time to discuss about their topic. Moreover, they also quite confused on the rules and regulation in parliamentary debate. All government members and opposition members only gave their point without rebut anything. They also only gave their point without any strong evidence or example that would made their point become stronger. They also had lack of point as they only use 2 minutes for each person to present their own point. They also look really nervous and not confident but I really

believed that they will really improve in the future as they had known their own mistake after had been commented by our lecturer.

The second group was quite good and better than the other group. They had improved theirselves after our lecturer had commented to the first group and they looked more prepared and confident on theirselves. They also had prepared many strongest points together with evidence and a good example that can attract audiences to listen to them. Furthermore, they also use their own technique to attract audiences. The opposition side was the best debaters in this debate session because they can break all the arguments of the government side easily with all their point and their evidence. They also gave a lot of strong points that made judges and audiences confident with them and all the judges agree with all their points. The opposition group win the debate session.
