Sufi circle of zikr Eventually murids stood up, in a very big circle, bare feet, uncovered heads, huddled

close to each other, each grapping the other's hand. The sound of drums, tambourine, and the burning of incense, dominated the scene, and filled the air. It can be heard and smelled from very far. The yard of zikr, adorned with the dervishes patchworks', and a lot of colourful banners, which were as high as the palm tress, in the middle of the circle. Five banners were, as the highest as, the other ones, were hoisted gloriously, and colourfully catching the eye, two of which, were green in colour, inscribed on each La ilah ila Allah and Mohammed rasul Allah, Sheikh Nurain Al.Akbar wali Allah, and in each corner were written the names of Abu. Baker, Omer, Othman and Ali. While the three banners, were in red colour, inscribed on them also, La ilah ila Allah and Mohammed rasul Allah, Sheikh Al.Gubara wali Allah, while also written on each corner of it, the names of the four caliphs. The circle of zikr, started very slow, and by the passing of the time, it turned intense, men rhythmically swaying, chanting and repeating, the word: Allah- Allah- Allah Allah- Allahu- Allah Frequently these rituals, were accompanied by drums, and tambourine, which added depth and excitement. And as the chanting and momentum, of the zikr grew, many of the attendants, mainly the dervishes, entered into states, of varying degrees of intoxication. Some collapsed in exhaustion, and others in spiritual ecstasy. Round the circle, ran a man over fifty, wearing a patchedwork, shouting madad, madad, madad, O guth al zaman, frequently in a loud voice, amid the rhythmic tones of the famous, chanting la ilah ila allah.

Among the dervishes in the attendance also, was a one who always found in the dustbins, and city streets. His only business, is collecting the thrown papers, in piles and burning them. Why do people deal with such lack of respect and reverence, with these pieces of papers? Look to what such level of backwardness and indifference, we were reach!
