INTRODUCTION

OBJECTIVE
By finishing this task, there are a lot of benefits that were gained by me. I hope by this project work I will be more confident learn Additional Mathematics. A few ofobjectives are: To apply and adapt a variety of problem-solving strategies to solve problems. To improve thinking skills. To promote effective mathematical communications. To use the language of mathematics to express mathematical ideal precisely. To provide learning environment that stimulates and enhances effective learning. To adapt positive attitude towards mathematics.

Tooth Decay: All soft drinks are acidic which corrodes the teeth by eroding its enamel. The high amount of sugar consumed through soft drinks lead to the development of bacteria that attack the teeth thus aggravating dental problems. People who drink three or more glasses of aerated drinks (gaseous drinks) daily have much higher chances of dental decay, fillings and teeth loss. Therefore, soft drinks contain acid and sugar that corrode and destroy the teeth in one shot. * Another very common effect of soft drinks is diabetes. With every can of soft drink, people add large amount of sugar in their body. Long habitual intake of soft drinks can lead to ineffective insulin production from pancreases which consequently affect the sugar level in the body. This further leads to diabetes. * It has been proved that frequent consumption of soft drink can lead to weakening of the bones and osteoporosis. Soft drinks impair the calcification of the growing bones in children. * Soft drink also leads to impaired digestive system. Soft drink contains phosphoric acid which competes with the hydrochloric acid present in stomach and affects its functioning. The ineffectiveness of stomach leads to undigested food which further causes indigestion and gassiness. * Soft drinks cause dehydration in the body. Both the sugar and caffeine components of soft drinks are dehydrating agents. They both lead to excess urination, which makes you thirstier than before.

The golden ratio, also known as the divine proportion, golden mean, or golden section, is a number often encountered when taking the ratios of distances in simple geometric figures such as the pentagon, pentagram, decagon and dodecahedron. It is denoted , or sometimes . The designations "phi" (for the golden ratio conjugate ) and "Phi" (for the larger quantity ) are sometimes also used (Knott), although this usage is not necessarily recommended. The term "golden section" (in German, goldener Schnitt or der goldene Schnitt) seems to first have been used by Martin Ohm in the 1835 2nd edition of his textbook Die Reine Elementar-Mathematik (Livio 2002, p. 6). The first known use of this term in English is in James Sulley's 1875 article on aesthetics in the 9th edition of theEncyclopedia Britannica. The symbol ("phi") was apparently first used by Mark Barr at the beginning of the 20th century in commemoration of the Greek sculptor Phidias (ca. 490-430 BC), who a number of art historians claim made extensive use of the golden ratio in his works (Livio 2002, pp. 5-6). Similarly, the alternate notation is an abbreviation of the Greek tome, meaning "to cut." In the Season 1 episode "Sabotage" (2005) of the television crime drama NUMB3RS, math genius Charlie Eppes mentions that the golden ratio is found in the pyramids of Giza and the Parthenon at Athens. Similarly, the character Robert Langdon in the novel The Da Vinci Code makes similar such statements (Brown 2003, pp. 93-95). However, claims of the significance of the golden ratio appearing prominently in art, architecture, sculpture, anatomy, etc., tend to be greatly exaggerated. has surprising connections with continued fractions and the Euclidean algorithm for computing the greatest common divisor of two integers.

Given a rectangle having sides in the ratio , is defined as the unique number such that partitioning the original rectangle into a square and new rectangle as illustrated above results in a new rectangle which also has sides in the ratio (i.e., such that the yellow rectangles shown above are similar). Such a rectangle is called a golden rectangle, and successive points dividing a golden rectangle into squares lie on a logarithmic spiral, giving a figure known as a whirling square.

FURTHER EXPLORATION
Shapes of packaging Pyramid Pro (s) -The larger base area causes the drink packaging to be more stable. -This type of packaging is rarely found in the markets so it ia more unique. Cone - The stability of the drink packaging is more stable because the base area is larger. - This shape of drink packaging is more interesting because ussually packaged drinks come in cylinder and pyramid shape. - The stability of the drink packaging will more stable although the base area used is not larger . - The shape of the drink packaging make people easy to used it because it is easy for us to hold this type of packaging . - The cost of packaging material will be higher because more total area required. Con (s) - The cost to make the packaging will be high because the total surface area is more.

Cylinder

- The cost used for this packaging material will be increase because of the higher demand .

REFLECTION
After spending countless hours, days and night to finish this project and also sacrificing my timefor chatting and movies in this mid year holiday, there are several things that I can say. From the experience in making this project work, I have learnt that we must do our best when doing something. It needs a lot of commitment and discipline to do this work. I always set in my mind that this was just one of the obstacle and rival in excelling in my life. After scarifying countless hours, countless nights and all the things that I always do in free time, I finally finished my work. I also realise the importance of my teachers, friends and family. They had helped me in many ways and make it easier for me to complete this work.
