Jijanasa August 2012 Session: Vedic Mathematics Lecture by Mr.Rajendran Mariappan. Bio: Mr.

Rajendran has 38 years of experience in Software development, since 1975. He has been associated with Vidya Bharati since 1985. He has published an important paper in the Hyderabad Maths conference. Key topics covered in the introduction session: How to use Vedas to derive the grammar aspects of Sanskrit language. 2. 16 methods of recitation: Krama, Pada, Matrix etc. 3. Apurusheya Shruti Mantra - Chandas, Devata, Rishi. 4. Rig Veda mantras were databases. Data mining. Pingala Chandas Shastra (8 pages) book explained how to mine data. Alankara Shastra is a part of same book. Index, Value for index, binary system etc. found in that. 5. If 1st syllable is Laghu, 7th should be Guru. Essentially a binary system for computers in 16 sutras. Laghu if interpreted as 1 and Guru as 0, entire binary system. Writing 2312, read backwards for 2 Thousand 1 hundred and 32. 6. You can write as big a number as possible. Bhaskaracharya, Aryabhata etc. wrote this way. Puri Shankaracharya gave 16 volumes, 1 for each sutra in 1960s. His books lost. Small reproduction later when writing about Vedic Maths. 52 shlokas of Rig Vedas talk of Vedanga Jyotisham. 7. NASA uses Surya Siddhanta for planet positions even with modern calculus. Then came Aryabhata etc. In TN there's Vakya Panchanga - 1 line per samvatsara. 8. 25876 yrs precision of equinox - found in Vedanga Jyorithsham. 9. Hidden knowledge = reverse order, activation code and deactivation system for warfare. 10. Germans named first day as Kanada, after Indian nuclear scientist, when they celebrated nuclear week. Kanaada's Vaisheshika Shastras.

During the advanced sessions, Mr.Rajendran covered the following: Sundara Kanda: Hanuman sees Pushpaka vimana, full description. Kalidasa's Meghadoota: Ujjain to someplace, he gave description flora and fauna. Pune scientist confirmed via Helicopter, 15 yrs back. Maharshi Pingala's Algorithm: 1. Prastara, Nashtam, Uddistam, Samkhya (total), Adhvayoga and Eka dvi adi l g kriya.

This is immensely beneficial for speed of communication in 21st century, if researched and applied properly. 3. DEC: Normally 12 bits to represent 10 decimal numbers. 10 bits by IBM guy, using laghu & guru. Patented. Pingala did the same with 0 and 1. Pingala gave 16 chandas names for 16 combination of Hexa decimal system using 4 bit. 4. Anushtup chandas 32 syllables per line. Maths was a part of language everywhere. Chandas is for decoding if it is warfare, astrology, archeology & kind of uses. 5. MeLakarta ragas : Hashing technology (number to word index for search) was in reverse order. 6. Ka da pa.. System: combination of words. Rigveda 1st mandala, 16 chapter uses Ka Da Pa Ya Di system and gives sun/earth distance. 7. Samkhya algorithm - coding and decoding should be patented. Recursive algorithm programming. 8. Eka dvi l g -> Iterative programming. Meru prastha. Explained in 2 lines. Base 2, Base 3 etc provided.

After covering the basics of Vedic Mathematics, reference points and Maharshi Pingala's alrogithm, Mr.Rajendran went on to cover more detailed information about application of the knowledge in today's communication, warfare and computing world. 1. Concept of Stack - Push and Pop-out described. 2. Barend Van Nooten published in 1993 Pingala's Chandasutram. Californian Univ. 3. Ashok Jhunjhunwala's book was referred as a great source. 4. Germans have a software to decipher chandas if you give a Veda mantra. Also found corruption. Fixing it too. 5. Robotics and Natural Language program. Athiratham Yajna Jap & US observed. 6. Shalivahana made robotics images and fought war. Gita nuclear physics decipher SPDF formulas for atoms. 7. Shri ram Prabhu - 7 phase generator, using Purusha Sukta. 30 yrs research. Energy matter. Japan/Germany bought. Millionaire. 8. Ashtadhyayi - Panini grammar. 3996 shlokas. 9. Context sensitive grammar. Compiler technology meta rules etc. English got these rules only 30 yrs back. Natural language processing. A compiler or interpreter built using Panini's ashtadhayi will be robust. Then Mr.Rajendran covered the manuscripts topic:
1.

There are 40 groups scanning manuscripts from India. 32 are foreign. Once they

scan, it is their intellectual property right. IGNC 2.5 lakhs manuscripts. Not even 5% not deciphered. 2. Jaimini Mimamsa - Getting meaning of sentence, giving methods advanced than computers. 3. ISA in Hyderabad (Ganapati Sachidananda's) deciphering manuscripts. IISH in Kerala. Computer and Sanskrit research - No coordination nodal agency. So where can Vedic Mathematics be used in practical applications? 1) Error detection and correction - Communication. 2) Panini) Context sensitive grammar - Natural Language Processing, Art Intelligence and Robotics. 3) Encoding and faster/harder decoding Communication and Military. 4) Multiple encoding into same sentence - Robotics, Compressed tech. 5) Pingala and Vedic Math can produce Decimal Computer (Rajendran simulating s/w now). Hope there is enough information provided above, in very short index format, that would spawn curiosity for the inquisitive folks to research and apply further. Go ahead!
