Or maybe it was that clarifying moment when you fell deeply in love. Finding a new music director for the Elgin Symphony Orchestra is another life-changing milestone we will experience together. Yes, you are key to everything that happens next with the ESO. You are on the threshold of inuencing the future of the orchestra and our communities! Our musical world will change, and you will shape the outcome. For the one person who takes the helm of one of the nest regional orchestras in the nation, he or she, too, will take on a life-changing commitment. Our new conductor will continue a journey that began 63 years ago. That persons charge will be no small feat: To make magic, make music and make history. To unfurl a world of change through sound, leadership, community, and limitless possibility. To be at this crossroads is a once in a lifetime privilege and responsibility one that the ESO board of directors, trustees, musicians and sta eagerly share with you. You are vital to this endeavor. Your active participation ensures that we will select the best artistic leader for our community. With the experienced counsel of Henry Fogel, prior president and chief executive ocer of the League of American Orchestras and former president of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association, the ESO has identied a group of internationally-renowned nalists from a pool of nearly 200 applicants. Industry experts tell us that we have attracted prospects of the highest caliber. The conductors vying to be the next music director of the ESO are among the nest available anywhere, both nationally and internationally. Together, we will experience the skills, the ideas, and the leadership of the worlds best conducting talent. Together, we will embrace this once in a lifetime opportunity.
