Know your product, but first know your skin

Edith Hallas College Founder

It all began with two amazing women.

In Paris 196, Madame Ella Bach was a cosmetic chemist and a determined businesswoman. She believed in improving the canvas of the skin, rather than creating a marketable product. Her philosophy of no two skins are alike epitomises the unique Ella Bach method of skin diagnosis and individualised skin care. Madame Ella Bach wasnt interested in simply creating a face cream; her interest lay in the quality of the ingredients, the strength of the formula and knowing the right skin to apply it to. Madame Bach firstly created a range of classic moisturisers, each one perfect for a range of different skin conditions regardless of ethnicity or gender.

Edith Hallas, was married to Madame Ella Bachs cousin George Hallas and loved Ella Bachs formulas. A qualified beauty therapist, Mrs Hallas also possessed a deep and abiding passion for beauty therapy. She also believed Australia needed educating in skin care and beauty therapy and that because of their quality, Ella Bach products were an ideal way to do this. Bringing Bach products from Paris to Sydney in 195, Mrs Hallas walked straight into David Jones with the first cold epil wax in the world. Her commitment to the idea of beauty education led to her opening the first Ella Bach College of Beauty Therapy in 196.
