NATIONAL SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM Civic Welfare Training Service Academic Year 2011-2012 Community Development Plan CWTS Section CPHA-3, Group Guzman, A. A. General Information
Project Title: Kalinisan at Kalusugan Project Target Community/Beneficiaries: Rodriguez, Rizal. The whole community Community Background: The community in Rodriguez, Rizal is a community of people that displays similar problems as other communities which lacks guidance and is not given proper information about health and sanitation. It can be observed that the environment is quite an unhealthful place to live in. Houses are too close to each other and no proper ventilation is available. Proper hygiene is also not practiced. Most kids are observed to undermine the importance of basic hygiene such as taking a bath and brushing their teeth. No proper guidance is also given to them. They are just free to roam and play anywhere. Their skin is usually full of scratches and scabs and their language, actions and manner of speaking is in a way too violent and inappropriate for a child. Problems: Needs: Improper disposal of garbage Population explotion Lack of proper hygiene and sanitation Wide spread of diseases Presence of violence Lack of productivity Misguidance or lack of guidance and parental supervision of children
Proper sanitation within the community through proper disposal of garbage Important reminders and information on achieving proper hygiene A more productive outlet for children Basic medical care
Projects/ Programs:
Impormasyon sa Kalinisan, Sagot ni Juan- Seminars discussing the importance and ways of achieving proper hygiene and sanitation will be conducted. Basic health and sanitation will also be taught.
Dikit ko, Basa mo Posters will be placed on prominent areas of the community such as the classrooms and multipurpose hall. Continuous dissemination of reminders and information will be conducted. OPLAN Walis A two-day clean up of every household of the community. Volunteers will be cleaning the general utilities of the community such as the classroom, multipurpose hall and other public places. Pamana sa Kalusugan Handing out of toiletries to the community. Each plastic bag will be containing a small paper of reminders on proper hygiene and sanitation. "Hatid Kaalaman" A weekly session of teaching children good moral values and helping them find a more positive outlet for their energy.
B. Objectives:
General Objective: The community will be able to improve in terms of physical and mental health. There will be a decrease in the number of health problems and a more positive attitude will be seen with the children. Specific Objective: A cleaner environment through proper waste disposal Emphasis and implementation of proper hygiene A less violent environment by channeling energy in a more positive manner A decrease in cases of communicable diseases A more informed community
It took the us all afternoon after we finished our fieldwork to plan out the projects we want to implement. Our aim is to make this a weekly session of about 10-12 sessions.
We we're able to prioritize what we want for the community and set both short term and long-term goals. By the end of it, we want the community to be more informed about proper health and sanitation.
Angelie will spear head the project. ANa is responsible for the the Hatid Kaalaman project. Bea is responsible for the Impormasyon sa Kalinisan hatid ni Juan. Diane will take charge of Dikit ko, basa mo. Marwen will take care of OPLAN walis and Carolyn will be responsible for Pamana sa Kalusugan. Cristine ill be in charge of the logistics while Angela will estimate the budget needed. Kenneth and Careh will do the assessment and follow-ups needed. Post-implementation Activities: It will be assessed by surveys and in depth observations. Observations whether there is improvement with their health and sanitations will be made. A check-list whether the objectives was completed will be also made.
The evaluation will be done weekly simultaneously with the project to record and monitor progress. The community will also be revisited several months after the project has been implemented.
Hopefully, there would be a long-term effect. The principles taught will be applied.
