THE RESURRECTION AND YOU Main Text: Ephesians 2:1 AND YOU HATH HE QUICKENED, WHO WERE DEAD

IN TRESPASSES AND SINS; In this lesson we will see the need to understand the relevance of what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross and also the need to apply that great event to our lives. *** THE WORD OF GOD IS NOT OUTDATED The Bible is the Word of God that He has left on record for man to live by. Many if not most people understand it to be sacred writings, but all dont realize its (relevance). They merely see it as something that was important for those that lived long ago. But the Word of God is current for whatever times we live in. Times change and the way people do things change but the Word of the Lord doesnt change. Psalm 119:89 FOREVER, O LORD, THY WORD IS SETTLED IN HEAVEN. *** ITS ALIVE Hebrews 4:12-13 FOR THE WORD OF GOD IS QUICK, AND POWERFUL, AND SHARPER THAN ANY TWOEDGED SWORD, PIERCING EVEN TO THE DIVIDING ASUNDER OF SOUL AND SPIRIT, AND OF THE JOINTS AND MARROW, AND IS A DISCERNER OF THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTS OF THE HEART. NEITHER IS THERE ANY CREATURE THAT IS NOT MANIFEST IN HIS SIGHT: BUT ALL THINGS ARE NAKED AND OPENED UNTO THE EYES OF HIM WITH WHOM WE HAVE TO DO. The word quickened in our main text and quick in our Hebrews 4 passage means made alive and alive respectively. The words of the

scriptures have the breath of God within them. Reading the Word of the Lord is not like reading a novel; and its not just a list of dos and donts. But the Word of God is charged with the life of God. Jesus said in St. John 6:63 IT IS THE SPIRIT THAT QUICKENETH; THE FLESH PROFITETH NOTHING: THE WORDS THAT I SPEAK UNTO YOU, THEY ARE SPIRIT, AND THEY ARE LIFE. 2 Timothy 3:15-17 AND THAT FROM A CHILD THOU HAST KNOWN THE HOLY SCRIPTURES, WHICH ARE ABLE TO MAKE THEE WISE UNTO SALVATION THROUGH FAITH WHICH IS IN CHRIST JESUS. ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY INSPIRATION OF GOD, AND IS PROFITABLE FOR DOCTRINE, FOR REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION, FOR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS: THAT THE MAN OF GOD MAY BE PERFECT, THROUGHLY FURNISHED UNTO ALL GOOD WORKS. Although we refer to the Word of God as it, the more accurate designation is He. St. John 1:14 says, AND THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, AND DWELT AMONG US, AND WE BEHELD HIS GLORY, THE GLORY AS OF THE ONLY BEGOTTEN OF THE FATHER, FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH. *** JESUS HAD TO TASTE DEATH FOR US ALL Hebrews 2:14-15 FORASMUCH THEN AS THE CHILDREN ARE PARTAKERS OF FLESH AND BLOOD, HE ALSO HIMSELF LIKEWISE TOOK PART OF THE SAME; THAT THROUGH DEATH HE MIGHT DESTROY HIM THAT HAD THE POWER OF DEATH, THAT IS, THE DEVIL; AND DELIVER THEM WHO THROUGH FEAR OF DEATH WERE ALL THEIR LIFETIME SUBJECT TO BONDAGE.

*** THE CONNECTION BETWEEN CALVARY (PLACE OF THE LORDS CRUCIFIXION) AND YOU Ephesians 1:19-23 speaks of Christ and His exaltation over (all things) and how He reigns supreme. Then the verses are interrupted by the chapter 2 heading, and a new thought begins; but not really. The chapter headings along with the verse numbers were inserted by the compilers of the Bible. These headings and numbers are useful in helping us locate scriptures but are not a part of the original text. As we consider this fact, we should read the verses of Ephesians chapter 1 and follow the thought of the chapter on through to chapter 2. All that was said of Christ and His exaltation also applies to (you) who are believers in Christ! This is a glorious truth that speaks to our position in Christ once we have come to Him in true repentance and surrender. As He is exalted - Ephesians 1:21 FAR ABOVE ALL PRINCIPALITY, AND POWER, AND MIGHT, AND DOMINION, AND EVERY NAME THAT IS NAMED, NOT ONLY IN THIS WORLD, BUT ALSO IN THAT WHICH IS TO COME; (so are we), because we are in Him. Galatians 2:20 says, I AM CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST: NEVERTHELESS I LIVE; YET NOT I, BUT CHRIST LIVETH IN ME: AND THE LIFE WHICH I NOW LIVE IN THE FLESH I LIVE BY THE FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD, WHO LOVED ME, AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR ME.
